I recently experienced Ellen’s Stardust Diner for dinner while in NYC for a visit. We waited for a table about 10 mins. The food was typical diner fair served hot and fresh with polite fast service. The portions were generous, you won't leave hungry. The atmosphere was the Best! All of the wait staff were aspiring actors, singers & dancers trying to make it on Broadway. So in hopes of catching their big break, they sing their faces off while they serve up your burgers & fires. Who doesn't LOVE free entertainment? What a great showcase to for these artists from all across America with a common goal to strut their stuff. Be sure to leave lil’ something extra in the TIP CAN to help these rising stars continue to improve on their talents. Give this place a try...you won't be disappointed ... Had a great time!

We were very lucky that on the day we went there the queue was long…….but the waiter had come out asking if there were only two people for seating and we were the only party of two! We got in and the music was in full swing…..they had soft rock to the classics and everyone was fab. My only slight complaint was as soon as we ordered our food the waiting staff were non-existent and it annoyed me a little. Was definitely glad we went though and would highly recommend to everyone!

Our family has been to the Stardust twice in the last year or so. Go later in the evening if you want to miss the line-ups.

Inside you will find a full restaurant with a super talented group of singers whose raison d'etre is a career on Broadway. We have gone to numerous Broadway shows and much of the talent at Stardust matches, and in some cases betters, anything currently playing on a NY stage. Each singer has a their own unique repetoire ranging from Broadway through top 40 to Opera. Where else in a single evening could you hear songs from Grease, a Janis Joplin cover and a Macklemore song done so raucously that you can't help but jump up and dance along.

The food service is quick and the menu is slightly upscale diner; think meatloaf, soups, salads and sandwiches with some hot plate items thrown in. Don't over expect in the food department and you won't be disappointed. They do a mean milkshake and, surprisingly, the wine selection while limited isn't bad.

Go for the music, stay for the music.

We had been told we had to go - so we did.

I was a little nervous as to some of the reviews about the food and bathrooms but ....

It is a homage to a diner and world from a bygone age - the artifacts and pictures on the walls from Miss Subway though the decades are just fab.

We had Mustang Sally (aka Amanda) look after us and she was great.

The food is what it is - staple diner american food -it was the best turkey burger I had and my other half felt the the steak burger was good.

Cocktails were yummy! and I had these instead of a pudding!

The staff are aspiring actors / professional singers- some were amazing others perhaps destined to be there a little while - they clearly have a track record of success and perhaps putting that in the menu with some bios would be better then taking at length whilst the sparkly bucket went round.

The twitter TV is good but not as prolific as you might hope.

The bathrooms were find - certainly not the best but not the worst by any means.

If you want find dining this is not for you - if you want some fun and a memorable night then GO GO GO !

I recently visited Ellen's twice on my trip to New York, we were served pretty quickly and efficiently but I understand that in the busy holiday season (Nov & Dec) it gets really busy with queues round the block waiting for tables. People visit more for the entertainment than the food, which is certainly not five star but on our visits breakfast was acceptable and dinner mainly of the burger variety etc. The waiting staff are amazingly talented many of them between shows and have fabulous voices, often better than some professionals I've heard, and when they start duetting the whole place comes alive with warmth and a great holiday feeling. Visit and be amazed.
