Description: Russian Samovar, a landmark restaurant in New York City with rich history, started operations in 1986, and later partnered with Mikhail Baryshnikov and Nobel Prize winning poet Joseph Brodski. We are proud to have won numerous Best of New York awards for our food and flavored vodkas. We support the art community by hosting poetry readings, art shows, and now theater productions. The space has a unique layout with private event space upstairs, which consists of a lounge area and bar, and a private dining room with a balcony. Downstairs is an open dining area and bar with an atmosphere celebrating our Russian heritage. The white piano centerpiece donated by Mr. Baryshnikov ties together our bar with our dining room, and is one of our sources of nightly live music - everything from classic piano scores to Russian / gyspy music on a weekends, as well as jazz on Sundays.

Excellent sea food soup, selection of entrees and great desert. There was a lady playing excellent piano. Great ambiance. The service is top notch and we were very well taken care of. The seating space was great.

This was our first time here.
We tried 8 different appetizers and enjoyed them all.
We liked the ambience of the place as well as the piano / music sealed the deal.
Service was good and the drinks kept coming.
Great walking distance from Times Square and theater district.
I would definitely return.

A great find. Good service, rich and hearty meals great for a chilly winter's eve. Had the Beef Stroganoff. Lots of interesting Vodka infusions too.

The 1st time we went here was before the Jersey Boy's show as it is right across the street. The second time we went, we were looking for it. It's small and down some steps, I was kinda leary about going into a Russian bar in the basement of a building, but it was great. We tried several of the Vodkas and truly enjoyed ourselves. We did not eat there as we couldn't decide what to eat. By the time we left, I had figured we spent about $100 on shots, but the bill came to $27. I will go again for sure. The waitresses are truly Russian, and they are stunning. They would be more stunning if they would smile and keep the Vodak flowing, but none the less, stunning. The piano playing was a nice addition to our night. Go and try it out....

I love this place because they offer more than just Borsch soup. We had seats upon arrival. I guess it depends on what time of the day you go. The best is to call and make reservation to avoid disappointment. It has an authentic Russian ambience which you see in movies. There was a male pianist playing too. The best way to get the most of of the restaurant is to order the appetizers to share among friends.
