We have enjoyed stopping at “Gaby”, the upscale French bistro in the Sofitel NY on several occasions, as we like the combination of French favorites with a casual touch. We like the décor of green marble and woodwork, with the French abstract and representational artwork. My wife and I visited with our 5-year-old for lunch recently, and found Gaby’s menu and service even better compared to previous visits. We ordered variations of the refreshed “express lunch” menu, which allows you to pick from among soups, salads, sandwiches and desserts, and ordered from the great champagne menu as well. The “express” designation does not require you to eat fast – in fact we took an hour and a half to enjoy ourselves as our daughter tucked into her macaroni and cheese. The seared tuna and cold soups were stand-outs. The maître‘d and wait staff were perfect – even providing toys and crayons for our daughter to play with. We sat in our favorite area on the sunny side
looking out onto 46th street, and noticed that Sofitel now has tables outside as well. F&B manager Juliann shared he is really just beginning the process of developing a patio on the 46th street side – something we will definitely enjoy returning to. The French bistro food and service here is very good, and in my view is underpriced. This is a Manhattan bargain we will continue to enjoy on future visits.
