Friendly staff, excellent food, reasonable prices and a great location if you are taking in a play. So good that we returned after the play to have dessert.

Not the charming setting the website portrays. The menu online— which sounded rustic and delicious— is outdated. The menu you receive is basic— French onion soup, croque monsieur, steak frites, etc. Very crowded to the point where you can’t easily get out of your banquette table. Blaring disco music, two TVs that are just distracting and not necessary. Basic wines. Lots of other choices in the area. The one nice thing was the service was very friendly.

Nice quiet lunch. The chicken with truffle oil was delicious. I'd definitely go there again. Right in the middle of the theater district.

Food was ok but service was terrible! There are so many choices for restaurants in this area, there is no reason to eat at this restaurant. Tried to order a cosmo- they were out of Cointreau. Tried to substitute Chambord, they were out of it. Asked for a vodka and cranberry. They sent someone from the kitchen to the store to get the cranberry juice. (Mean while, the table next to us tried to order, but got up an left). My friend asked for a Compari and tonic, she brought compari and seltzer. Asked for tea at the end of the meal, it never arrived. The waitress brought a "free" bowl of Sangria to the table at the end of the meal. She slammed in down on the table, it hit the dessert dish with melted ice cream and it splashed on my friend. Pathetic......

I read the reviews that said the place was so "delicious" and "delightful" and frankly don't get it at all. The place is in a basement, cramped, uncomfortable chairs and diners seated so close to one another you literally can't help but hear people's conversations. The food was less than mediocre -- but that's if you know French food. If not, maybe it's good. We had the foie gras, baked brie, goat cheese salad, pommel frites, and escargot -- so a totally French order! The first warning sign was the lousy bread, stale, no crust on the outside, just chewy crap white bread. The two stars are for the brie and escargot because both were great. But then, on the backdrop of lousy bread LOL. The foie gras (cold pate version) was flavorless, no aspic, no accompaniment of a jam or berries or that delicious touch of a cognac or other liquor to bring the foie gras to the next level. Just salad (which was very fresh) with a bitter, bitter dressing. Probably too much mustard. The brie baked en croute was heavenly. We also ordered the "pommes frites" because they were truffle and parmesan -- what could go wrong? They arrived with no truffle or parmesan and when we sent them back they brought back the same basket and had just poured oil all over them and added a powdery parmesan. Finally, the house cabernet was awful -- super acidic and burned all the way down. Total bummer for my daughter's birthday. But close to our theater....live and learn!
