Description: It was in 1980, when Chef-Owner Mr. Costas Spiliadis opened the first Estiatorio Milos on Park Avenue, Montreal. The reason seemed obvious to him: the need to elevate the sophistication of Greek cuisine abroad far away from its stereotyped forklorization. 'I wanted to change what people thought about Greek cuisine, make sure it's being appreciated and awarded with its rightful place on an international level!' As a small restaurant, Milos gained the trust of the Montrealers in no time. The menu being always simple and impeccably fresh, drew the attention of the media and food critics from around the world. NY Post has triumphly started that 'Milos fish could only be fresher if it swam to your plate!' What was the secret that made Milos stand out? Its focus in finding the purest Mediterranean products and cooking with the freshest ingredients.Through 35 years of intensive research, we have managed to build lasting relationships with growers and small-scale fisheries at the shores of Greece, Morocco, Tunisia and Portugal, flying in our fish and seafood daily by plane! Milos has since then taken the world by strom and opened in 1997 in NYC, in 2004 in Athens,in 2010 at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas and in 2012 in Miami Beach and in 2015 in London! We invite you to live the Milos experience and celebrate with us our 35th year anniversary!

““The best Greek Restaurant in Manhattan””
Reviewed July 10, 2014

Definitely the best Greek place we have eaten at. We have been here a number of times now and highly suggest sharing for all appetizers and entrees. There is so much to try and some of the dishes we like is the delicious grilled octopus and salad.

Any grilled fish is very fresh, but we love fagri perfectly filleted and shared with xorta or roasted potatoes. The service is excellent, and they have some great Greek wines. The prices are on the high side even for Manhattan. You can easily spend over $150 per person between food, drink and tip. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for great seafood and/or great Greek food. They display their seafood so you can see the fresh fish you are eating!

The loukoumades are absolutely the best in NYC. This is a very good restaurant for people who are more concerned about the quality of their meal than its cost. It can be as special or as casual as one decides. One of my favorite restaurants anywhere!

“Amazing quality of food and wine”
Reviewed July 10, 2014

I was lucky enough to be there with a group on business so we had the private glass room above the chaos of the main floor below. I did feel bad for the people who basically had to eat in what would have felt like a fast moving train station waiting area. That ll being said - the food was so amazing that I wanted to try everything. Everything was fresh and perfectly done served with great wine and sherry. Was a memorable meal! Especially the bill :)

“I should have read more carefully. ”

Milo's looked very inviting: outside dining, white table cloths, professional looking staff, great location. But just inside the door the tripadvisor review cautions proved all too real. The inside dining area is very, very large and the noise level is deafening. Although we ate outside we were, "won't take no for an answer" convinced to get up and traipse to the fresh fish market display. I noticed the $41 price on the whole red snapper and assumed it was per pound(correctly) since it didn't say. The balada (?) next to it no longer had a price marker visible. When I asked the waiter, who insisted the balada was the only fish we could divide 3 ways, he said it was "the same" price as the red snapper. When the bill came it was actually $15 more per lb or a total of $56 for an over cooked tasteless piece of fish. Noisy, up sold, expensive, and mediocre. Take heed.

“One Fabulous Dinner”

Eight girls were in New York City for a theatre trip! We chose to go to Milos before our show. I had been there before and loved it, and it was only one block from our hotel. The restaurant was beautiful and service impeccable. We all took advantage of the prix fixed and it was mouth wateringly good! We had 3 divine courses and each course was composed of a great amount of delicious food. The appetizer had a to die for lump crab cake, hummus and a delicious prawn. The next course was the Greek salad and it was fantastic. Some of us had Greek lamb chops with Greek potatoes and veggies, and they were sublime. Some had the branzino and it was the tenderest most delicious white flaky fish imaginable. We were out in plenty of time to walk to our show, and we all agreed that we would definitely go there the next time.

“Loved the food, but not the service”
Reviewed July 1, 2014

My wife and I met some New Yorkers in a restaurant the night previous to our visit to Milos and took them up on their suggestion to eat the best fish in New York. They suggested that we would not need a reservation if we went for the early bird and so we arrived at 6.30pm approx. we were met by very helpful staff at the door and the desk, but then it all fell apart. Whilst we were given a great table, in very pleasant surroundings, the apathy of the waiter was a huge disappointment. We seemed to be an annoyance in that we were not regulars and just walk ins. However, when the food arrived I was delighted I stayed. It was fantastic. Beautiful fresh fish perfectly cooked and presented. This was the best food we had in New York, but not cheap at $250+ including wine for the early bird! However we wont be returning, not because of the cost, but because there are so many other places in New York where we had great service. We just don't want the hassle of wondering if we will get a friendly and helpful waiter if we were to return.
