Excellent traditional Japanese sushi. Always fresh and delicious. The service is generally good although there are lapses at times. I prefer to sit downstairs with old man Seki. Very good value for the quality of food they service. One of my go-to places in NYC.

Hatsuhana on 48th Street prepares and serves sushi just like the better sushi restaurants in Tokyo. A perfect place to take clients, the food, atmosphere and servers are perfect for sealing the deal. The expense account is the perfect tool to make you a regular at this place. If you are alone or with one friend, sit at the bar and just eat what they serve you and you will love it. I was lucky enough to be able to dine there a number of times and I will be back the next time I am in the city.

Having lived in Tokyo and tasted sushi all over the world this is a legit place. Great choices of fish all around, very traditional and not many 'Americanized' rolls which makes me happy. Not cheap but this is NY. Was happy sitting solo at the sushi bar upstairs, good place for a business dinner as well.

I can eat sushi 7 days a week! Hatsuhana is one of the best sushi restaurants in the world. I sat at the sushi bar enjoying sushi and talking with the sushi chef who told me his amazing story about how he became a sushi chef. I highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar enjoying delicious sushi and hot saki. This is a must stop for my visits to NYC.

If your pocketbook can stand it, you can find better sushi in NYC. For less money, you can find lots of inferior sushi as well. On a value for price basis, however, there is none better. The service is friendly, the surroundings clean and comfortable, and the sushi is amazing!

If you're alone or with one other person, try the sushi bar instead of a table. After you delight in the freshness of the sushi, tip generously and remember your chef's name.
