Stopped in after a show and had oysters (1$ each!!!!!), ceviche, and a nice white wine. Great space, great vibe and good service. Oysters are plump and fresh.

“Lovely Anniversary Dinner”
Reviewed July 23, 2014

We have eaten at Thalia's three times over the years and decided it was worthy of our anniversary dinner this year. We had a wonderful meal, great service and a very relaxing time.
We like the windows looking out on busy 8th Avenue.

“Ecelectic mix of food”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

Italian and Asian food are mixed on this menu and although that seems like an odd combination it works. Very good menu and location. Very near the Gershwin Theatre so if you are going to see Wicked I would highly recommend this restaurant.

“Might be a great place if you don't have kids...and like to be treated rudely”
Reviewed July 21, 2014

We really tried to have an authentic NYC experience and avoid the chain restaurants, but we found that it was nearly impossible with our well-behaved children (ages 9 & 13) along. While Thalia did seat us, we were treated like second class citizens. There was no flexibility in the menu (I've never been to anyplace so rigid...makes me wonder if they are they making the food or heating up already prepared food?? Nothing could be on the side or removed from the listed menu item) Our drinks were left to run dry - NEVER refilled, which is funny since we ordered soda and they were running an "all you can drink" Brunch Booze special. It would have been much cheaper for them to keep our refills flowing! Anyway, I guess we weren't the patrons they were looking for. As my husband said, "That was the most unpleasant, unsatisfying $70 I've ever spent on lunch (for 4)".

“Varied Menu; Good Food; So-so Service”
Reviewed July 20, 2014

Four of us went to Thalia on a rainy night because if was close by and after curtain time for Broadway theaters (it's right in the theater district for those going to Broadway shows). The menu has a lot of variety -- sushi, seafood, small plates, pasta, burgers. Three of us had burgers, the fourth had an entree. The burgers were good and cooked according to each person's specs. One declined fries and was offered salad instead. The short ribs were tasty and nicely presented on asparagus with a side of truffled mashed potatoes. We all had deserts -- although they only had one order of the delicious apple crumble and substituted the chocolate cake combo. Three of us had red wine by the glass, the other had iced tea. The service dragged -- maybe the let down after the pre-theater rush. The bill was about $46/per person. During the pre-theater period it's probably very noisy. The decor is nice with a dark, clubby feeling. The narrow outdoor cafe seating is right next to the loading/unloading area for tourist buses and wouldn't be very pleasant. I'd go again, but try to push the wait staff for faster service.
