Description: Angus' Cafe Bistro is a one hundred-sixty seat, full-service eatery located in the heart of New York City's bustling Times Square. Given its proximity to several Broadway theaters, the pre-show dinner seating is the restaurant's busiest, but before or after is the time to take advantage of the restaurant's charm for either a relaxing lunch or dinner without the pressure of an impending curtain. Additionally, the restaurant offers several attractive features including a bargain prix fixe lunch menu, an irresistible late night snack menu and the house specialty: a porterhouse steak for two which includes unlimited wine by the glass if you order it after 8pm. Brunch is served all weekend long and private parties/special events of all shapes and sizes are willingly and expertly accommodated.

“Excellent Bartender!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2013

Stopped in here this past weekend after seeing Jersey Boys and had a great time. The weather was perfect, so huge windows in the front were wide open. The open-air feel was refreshing on such a beautiful evening.

We sat at the bar and were very impressed with Rick who was tending that evening. He was incredibly sweet and attentive. Above and beyond! When we ordered a couple of starters, he recommended the Midtown Picnic as it ended up being cheaper and was more food. It hit the spot! My mom really wanted to try a Scotch Egg because she had never had one before, and the Midtown Picnic includes a Scotch Egg. All of it was delicious. Lots of cheese, a couple shrimp if I recall correctly, and pickled vegetables and olives. We weren't hungry for a full meal, so it was perfect.

When the couple sitting next to us asked Rick for recommendations on the nearby nightlife, he wrote out a whole list of places nearby, including the best bartenders and who to ask for. When I chimed in, he made a second copy of the list for me. SO sweet! I'll definitely be back next time I'm in New York!

“Delicious!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2013

My husband had the short ribs, and they were delicious and tender! I had the minute steak frite. I never knew a minute steak could be so tasty and cooked perfectly (medium rare). Creamy mashed potatoes were also delicious. Dinner for 4 (with cocktails, no dessert) was around $200.

“Great little spot before or after a show”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013

They have a fast pre-show menu. 3 courses for $19. Fantastic little salad, short-ribs that were wonderful, mashed potatoes, and a chocolate pudding for dessert. Fast and worth it. I would eat there again anytime. Just don't go next door for the Beatles'Tribute "Let It Be" as it should just be left alone.

“Excellent menu and service”

What can I say about the great menu, the impressive decor and top service? Well, I kind of did, but I have been here almost 7 times and enjoy it every time.

“Safe Choice for the Theater District”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

I am always looking for a solid choice in the theater district for a meal pre or post theater.
I stopped in the Angus McIndoe and found it to be a good safe choice if you want to grab a meal at a prefixed price.
I had the pasta puntanesca and it was good. It was by no means the best that I ever had, but it was also not the worst.
The service was solid. It was a little cold and fast, but fast service pre theater is a good thing.
The interior is relaxed and has a typical bistro feel. It's not place that will WOW the socks off of you, but it will not make you never want to return either.
I would certainly eat here again for the location to the theaters and a good solid menu with okay service. I may not seek it out for a romantic anniversary dinner. This is simply a good choice for a acceptable meal pre or post theater.
