“Fun and spicy”
Reviewed July 8, 2012

Delta Grill is pretty good. I find the food well seasoned and I enjoy the selection of Abita beers. They have live music on the weekends which is also fun. Prices are reasonable too. The only drawback is the ridiculously tiny bathroom right outside the kitchen where there's no place to wait.

“Service not great the 2nd time this year.”
Reviewed July 5, 2012

The first time we visited (in March) our waitress was lovely, even asking us if we needed to get out for a play. When we went again in June (with my husband in tow:) the service could not of been more different. The waitress this time was disinterested bordering on rude. She went to the opposite end of the table from my husband and based on the ages of the others in our group, it should of been pretty obvious he was going to foot the bill, or at least a good part of it:) O.k. so she's not a mind reader. But when my husband said he couldn't hear her she really got snooty. Really left a bad impression with my husband after we had talked up how much he would like it. Sounds like, based on some of the other recent reviews, that they need to shore up their servers with a little pep talk about attitude. Ah well, maybe they're all starving artists.
All that said......the pulled pork sandwich can't be beat and is a super value for the 'hugeness' of it:) We still made the show:)

“Bringin' The Bayou to Manhattan”
Reviewed July 1, 2012

Without question, the Delta Grill on 9th Avenue teems with atmosphere and delicious food! If you’re missing some of that good ole southern cooking and blues music in the background, this is the place for you! The Louisiana Gator Bites are a fun appetizer, and even the most quesy eater in your group will enjoy them! But for the hearty folk, you MUST try the Gumbo—it is simply the best you’ll find in the City! Hearty, rich broth with chucks of veggies and meat will make you feel like you transported directly to the bayou. Each night, there are plentiful specials to choose from, but if they have them be sure to order the Albino Salmon with Crab Ragiout on top! I’ve never even heard of an albino salmon, but once you try this, you’ll never feel the way about regular salmon again. Of course, our other favorite is the Crawfish Pot. When in season, Delta Grill will serve up a heaping of crawfish in a bucket with potatoes, corn on the cob and other perfectly cooked vegetables. Cooked to perfection, you’ll have all you can do to finish your portion! And if you want a real treat, try the stuffed pineapple—which is half a pineapple filled with chopped vegetables and pineapple chucks served in a sauce. Beautiful to look at when served, but plentiful enough to fill even the largest appetites. And finally, don’t leave without ordering a slab of the St. Louis ribs!! Whether you choose pork or beef, these ribs are to die for! The meat is succulent and simply falls off the bone. The marinade ensures a rich, hearty flavor that lingers long after you’ve pulled the ribs apart. Messy? Absolutely! But worth every second of the clean up afterwards. And finally, don’t forget to put the fully stocked bar to the test. We ordered a flight of Abita beers, and couldn’t have been happier. The Purple Haze, with a hint of raspberry, was our favorite by far—even for my wife, who doesn’t like beer! With ceiling fans lazily turning, a dining area that looks and feels like your outdoors on a porch, and food that is freshly made and tastes like home cookin’, you’ll put the Delta Grill on your must list for places to return to time and again!

“Excellent food, service, atmosphere and price. What's not to love?”
Reviewed June 26, 2012

Stopped in on as recent visit to NYC. I had most eating places planned but The Delta Grill was on a whim. Glad I stopped, it was excellent. The service was friendly and timely, prices were very reasonable, and atmosphere was New Orleans funky in a True Blood sort of way. The shrimp Po-Boy I had was fantastic and better than any I had in New Orleans. Remoulade had just the right amount of tanginess, there were loads of tasty shrimp and the bread was perfect, crusty but soft. Highly recommended!

“We left.”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

We had a very different experience than most people on this page. We came into The Delta Grill for a very late lunch, and were seated immediately. When we sat down, a man came over to use with two glasses of water and set them down without saying anything. Then he came back later with a basket of cornbread, again without a word. He walked away. We sat thinking maybe someone else was our server, but nobody came. My husband ate a piece of cornbread while we waited. Still nobody. So, I guess the silent man was our server? We will never know, because my husband walked to the bar where the servers were all sitting and eating (!!!), asked how much a piece of cornbread was, they waved him off and said "don't worry about it". We left and went down the street for a much better experience.
