Had a wonderful birthday dinner at Remi's on West 53rd. The people were all very friendly, but our waiter, Luigi, was exceptional. he was warm, friendly, and helpful...and definitely Italian. he mad excellent recommendations on food selections and wine. The atmosphere was urban and contemporary in an Italian sort of way...very comfortable. We highly recommend it.

The seared tuna with vegetables were perfect. The waiter paired this with a good wine and made excellent recommendations for beet salad and a fresh berry dessert.

Somebody else at the table ordered a pasta dish and this looked delicious as well.

The restaurant is excellent. Very cute decor and I love all the windows. The food was excellent! We both shared a salad and had a pasta dish for our entree. We didn't leave anything on our plates. Our favourite place we ate in NYC!

The restaurant itself is quite spacious and airy (with the windows open), which is unusual for a downtown location.

We had a range of vegetable sides, polenta, pasta and dessert and all was quite good - ie. on the higher end of "average" and not outstanding.

The most interesting and memorable part of the meal was the pink grapefruit/pink peppercorn sorbet. The contrast of biting into the peppercorn while tasting the tartness of the pink grapefruit was really a new and enjoyable experience.

I'd definitely recommend this for a higher end Italian fare. The entrees were very good and all had twists that took slightly different takes on standard dishes. Very good deserts well worth saving some room for. Not your normal restautrant hubbug which made conversations possible at a normal tone as well.
