Description: If you're looking for authentic Tex-Mex, look no further than El Azteca. We specialize in a variety of delicious dishes including burritos, enchiladas, chimicangas, tacos, chilie rellenos, and more. WE also serve up some of the best margaritas around. There are no artificial flavorings in our kitchen. All of our fruits and vegetables come from natural produce to create the most flavorful cocktails around. Additionally, our ingredients for the Azteca table salsa, Poblano Mole, and other homemade sauces are concocted through experience in culinary work and are completely unique to El Azteca. Serving Hell's Kitchen and the Theater District for over two decades, we have created a Mexican city within one of the greatest cities in the world, New York City. Our Mexican decor includes famous and anonymous recreations of Frida Kahlo paintings, Aztec calendars, and indigenous stone masks. Throughout our restaurant there are beautifully framed mirrors and mounted candle lights to create a mystical and intimate atmosphere. Your complete satisfaction is our top priority here at El Azteca. Our friendly and dedicated staff welcomes you into our cozy environment to enjoy a delicious Tex-Mex meal like no other you can find in the Big Apple. Come pull up a seat at our table, we've got your margarita waiting.

“Great Mexican food, reasonable prices”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2013 via mobile

I went w my husband and 3 kids ages 12, 5, 3 before going to Cinderella. Had a great experience. Coconut margarita was amazing. Lots of tequila. Had the combo appetizer plus the guacamole. Both were amazing. Had a combo dinner too. Everything we had was great. Very reasonable prices. Nice ambiance. Service impeccable. Highly recommend.

“Owner Maria Diaz "runs a great ship"!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2012

Let's begin with your drink. Try the jumbo frozen flavored Margarita! The second leaves you feeling "cute"! Careful with that third one, however -- it could leave you somewhat discombobulated! Appetizers are very good -- but your meal alone may satisfy you, as the portions are generous. I've been a patron here since the place opened. The owner, Maria Diaz, somehow managed to keep her little ship afloat, while single-handedly raising her four children and surviving the country's financial meltdown. She is often on the premises and her sunny disposition is a tonic. You'll find yourself wanting to return for Maria -- and her terrific dishes and beverages!

“A Mexican beauty!”

The ceviche is heavenly! They make great mojitos and guacamole. We favor the steak quesadilla. The atmosphere is friendly and comfortable. The owner is a doll and the staff is very attentive.

“Outstanding Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2012

Hubby said is fajita's were blah... (lack of spices). But the rest of us loved our food! Everything comes mild. So you have to request spice on your food. So I ordered the taco salad, and the waitress said she put 4 ounces of spice on my meat. OH YUM! This was the yummiest taco salad I ever had. My friend had her's spiced too, and she LOVED it.

Our waitress brought us our strawberry margaritas, and she noticed me asking hubby about the blue margaritas on the next table, and within minutes she brought me an 8 ounce glass of the blue margarita for free, so I could taste it. She was incredible as a server!

I would say (personally, even though hubby disagrees lol) that this was our best meal during our stay in New York!

“Fantastic Mexican food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 15, 2011

I lived in Texas for a number of years and so was used to really good Tex-Mex. Azteca is a superb Mexican restaurant and the Margarita's are unbelievable (pay the extra $$ and get the top notch house ones, well worth it). The sizzling Fajitas here are great and spicy - everyone around me developed a 2 minute cough as the dried chiles smoked the place out, but made people envious of my meal. Yum.....wish they could deliver down south!
