This restaurant is one of last of its kind in NYC. A French restaurant with a limited menu but why argue with perfection. The ambiance is enhanced by flowers abundantly placed but without pretention.
The Dover Sole is as good or better than any I have experienced over the globe. The piece de resistance are the dessert souffles. You can't go wrong with any choices. We had a group of ten and all were singing praises for a memorable experience.
However, be prepared for to pay the piper;this is not an inexpensive venue.
My guess is you will not be shortchanged for this regal repast.

Bon appetit!

My friend and I have a tradition of celebrating each other's birthdays at La Grenouille. Granted we are ususually the youngest people dining (except for the occasional mistress) but we like the old school charm, gracious service and beautiful floral arrangements. You can imagine our disappointment when they refused to wrap up 1/2 of the fully cooked $65 Dover sole that I could not finish. We were incredulous. They said they "had nothing to put it in" but if I had ordered meat they would have been able to accomodate. We went all the way up to the manager but he would not budge. How ridiculous. As if cooked fish were more "dangerous" than rare filet mignon. The experience left us feeling depressed and wasteful and, frankly, taken. Issac Mizrahi may have been at the next table, but next year we are going to Le Bernadin. Au revoir Froggie.

For our 50th Wedding Anniversary dinner (with grown children & their spouses), we'd booked ahead for seating on gorgeous main floor... our banquet table for ten was perfect; as was the cuisine, wine, and service! Merci to owner Charles Masson and to each staff member who contributed to our magical celebration. And 'felicitations' also to you on La Grenouille's own 50th anniversary this December! You're a beloved NYC treasure.

My husband and I had a late dinner here. The experience was truly amazing. The food was perfect. The service impeccable and the staff to patron ratio sets this dining experience apart from most others. The attention and concern for detail was second to none. My husband and I had no idea what to expect and although we knew it was a fine dining establishment were not prepared for the experience. We were dressed casually and my husband had to borrow a dinner jacket which was a little intimidating at first but once in the restaurant there was no pretentiousness from staff what so ever. Loved it . Pricey but worth every penny and then some. Look forward to a return visit.

Oh Dear , what a sad ending to what could have been a wonderful lunch! We came for a very special occasion to celebrate and when we confirmed our 1.30 reservation we were assured we would have plenty of time to enjoy our meal, but the reality was different. The meal was superb and table service impeccable but sadly as we enjoyed our dessert at we were joined at our table by the VACUUM CLEANER!!! (diner fashion). We the rushed to finish our dessert and as we were leaving at 3.00 ( not late) we spoke to the Front House Manager who unfortunately continued to stand with his back to us looking at the reservation book. Eventually, the hostile response " We have to get ready for the evening" came with lots of attitude and no apology . What an unfortunate ending to what should have a memorable occasion.
