We wandered along 9th Ave and stumbled on this Thai place. The steamed pork dumplings were excellent, just the right appetizer size to get you started without filling you up. I ordered prawn scampi which was advertised as "prawns with a twist." I couldn't really see a twist, they were prawns in red curry sauce with a lot of fried rice so I ended up swapping with my partner who had beef pad thai which was too sweet for his taste but just right for mine - so it ended up working out after all! The waiters were nice and polite.

We were recommended this Thai by the concierge at our hotel, and he wasn't wrong! We really enjoyed it after a long day sightseeing and shopping, the Red curry and pad Thai were first class, and service was fast and efficient. Next time we are in NYC, we will be back!

We wandered along Ninth Ave in midtown looking for a tempting eating spot and wound up in Chanpen, a lucky find. Food was tasty, moderately priced, and the service was excellent. Real cloth napkins, too!! Especially liked the "house" chai tea as it blended so well with the tastes of the food.

We have been coming to Chanpen since it open about 15 yrs ago..Have tried other Thai restaurants ,but always come back to this one ,we went with a group(10) of friends for dinner on New years eve and it was the best! Our friends loved the food, we had Pod Thai ( it's the best !) Shrimp in the pod -one of our favorite, Chanpen duck - excellent, beef with basil & chili -yummy..curry chicken with new potatoes, ginger fish and sweet & sour fish... over all the best meal anyone can have... it's a small restaurant with a very friendly staff Our friends really loved it and now it's their favorite restaurant as well...I highly recommend it!

We were looking for the Siam Inn founding it out of business the concierge told us about this nearby place. We had Pad thai and curry soup. Both dishes were perfectly executed, the balance of the flavors and the quality of the ingredients excellent. Great value!
