I ended up eating here twice on a recent visit to New York, having enjoyed it so much on the first visit, and wasn´t disappointed on the second visit either.
The service is good, the food is good and the portions are massive. The Pulled Pork was soft and flavorsome, the ribs were fall off the bone soft and the corn-bread and other sides were all tasty. The brisket was ok - perhaps a little on the dry side, but they did also produce some burnt ends for me when asked, although it´s not on the menu. They also had two good IPA beers on tap, including Goose Island and one other.
My only complaint would be a slightly thoughtless approach to the hostess and how she sat guests - when the upstairs was not even half-full at 8pm mid-week, seating couples side by side on the small 2-seater tables seemed unnecessary, when they could have spaced people out slightly more for privacy, and then back-filled the gaps if they had filled completely. No one looks nice eating great BBQ, so having other people so close they can get splash-back from me chowing down on some pork ribs cannot be nice!
