This pub/restaurant was just down the road from our hotel, and provided good quality simple food on our first night in the city.

Very good food, excellent service and great value for the pre-theatre dinner here. Bar downstairs is very busy for happy hour, but restaurant upstairs is not at all noisy, most comfortable.

I come here several times a year. The food has definitely declined. I can tell because the sticky toffee pudding, a perennial favorite of our's, wasn't up to it's previous superlative state. The haggis, on the other hand, was great. Overall, I think there must have been a change in the kitchen and not for the better.

Thank you for the feedback. I apologize that you were disappointed with your experience this time that you visited St. Andrews. We've had the same chef and for over 10 years and our sticky toffee pudding recipe has not changed. I hope that you will give us another chance next time you are in the area so you can see that we still hold the same standards as we always have. Feel free to introduce yourself if you do decide to come back in.

We stayed across the street and came for dinner on our last night. We requested a seat upstairs and sat overlooking the street. Our meal was excellent and service was just right. We didn't feel rushed and our waiter was attentive. Unlike a previous reviewer my spouse was very happy with his steak. I had horseradish crusted salmon which was cooked to my liking and served with a delicious ravioli. The apple in the apple crisp dessert was sliced so thinly and cooked perfectly.
