We had a precious few hours in New York City after spending the weekend in New Haven. We took time to stop and eat here before making our way to Bloomingdales. We were seated and waited to be served. It was busy so it took several moments to have a waiter stop. That was not a problem. It was a problem however, when it took two hours for our food to arrive. My friend complained to the manager and other guests around us began to complain for they too had waited far too long for their lunch. The manager could care less and I will NEVER return and will encourage everyone I know to stay away. The food was just ok and the service was the worst I have ever experienced.

We were greeted by a happy front man on the sidewalk. Invited to stay, and eat, my wife wasn't sure. Another couple told us their concierge recommended this place. She felt better, especially when I checked TripAdvisor, and found it was rated 4 stars. We sat outside, and enjoyed.the entire friendly staff. And, the food was great! We enjoyed the lively atmosphere outside. Definitely would go there again!

A group of friends, and myself, decided we wanted to eat dinner in Little Italy. We had been on the go all day, doing tourist destinations and a hot meal in a nice restaurant seemed ideal. Being from Florida, I was amazed that there were so many restaurants in a few block radius. It seemed so inviting... all the restaurants lights lit up the streets, some had outside seating.... perfect to enjoy a beautiful evening out with friends that I had not seen in over a year! Not so ....
After checking online for restaurant reviews and sanitary reviews, we decided to go with the guy that was "hustling" us off of the street. We assumed there would be a table ready, as he was shuffling us inside. Well, there was NO communication between this guy and the inside host. We ended up waiting for a period of time. The host was ignoring us and went on to talk to the waited while we were trying to confirm whether there was space for us or not. Another party with reservations arrived and of course, understandable, they were taken and seated. But, the host was rude to them as well.

Once we were seated, we noticed the service was not spectacular for the rating received. We honestly would have left to find another place if it were not Saturday evening and we'd been walking around for almost 12 hours that day. We just wanted hot food and good service! Well, we got the hot, tasty food BUT ... the service was bland. Highly overpriced, especially when you can't even get pasta with your meal in an ITALIAN restaurant... an additional plate to get pasta would have cost $18! .... The bread basket was no appealing either. It looked like the bread had been touched and replaced (like leftovers from another table/basket) with a bit of sauce. We didn't touch the bread basket. The waiter was a bit annoyed, upset, when we decided we did not want desert. We just wanted to leave.... I would not go back to this place... Of all the restaurants in this square area, you can find another one easily...

Excellent everytime! Have been going here for years. Never disappointed. True Italian food, atmosphere, and service. Love it when we can sit outside al fresco.

We had lunch here in Little Italy on a beautiful, sunny day. We elected to sit outside at one of the few patio and umbrella tables lined up in a row in front of the restaurant so that we could people watch while enjoying a fall, warm weather. The restaurant is just around the corner of the main entrance to Little Italy and was a quieter place to eat than the restaurant on the corner. If you are walking to it and come through Chinatown, it will be a right hand turn into the street.

If outside eating is not your choice, ask if there is room in the back garden, which is an enclosed and roofed enclave that would be delightful , especially on a rainy or cold winter day.

We had a sausage and peppers lunch with a Peroni beer and a veal pizzale which came with a small side of spaghetti. The glass of house red wine complemented that meal. The portions were generous for a luncheon menu and we thought well within the price range of a sit-down lunch especially one in a major tourist area. Lunch was followed by very good cappuccino. Fresh bread with a type of focaccia with olive oil and dried tomatoes in top, baked-in, was supplied before lunch. The food was fresh cooked, not re-heated and very good. The sausages were well-spiced and the veal very tender.

The maitre d' was attentive, his primary role seemed o be to encourage people who were walking along to have la meal at the restaurant, which is how we decided on this place. The wait staff were attentive. I would suggest that the coffee selection, wine and beer be part of the menu or a separate menu, or if they already have this, to offer it before taking the order, as, while it did not affect our choosing, it can be uncomfortable for the customer to get a bill with an unknown amount for any drinks, coffee, tea etc ordered. Having said that, our beer, wine and cappuccinos were reasonably priced when the bill came.

A good choice
