Description: Founded in 1908 by the Davino family Grotta Azzurra was named for the blue grotto on the isle of Capri and designed to evoke the beauty of one of the worlds most famous caves in the world, intensified. Enrico Caruso feasted here after performances, and Sinatra called it his one and only favorite Italian restaurant, making it the site of many a “Rat Pack” evening. Shuttered for six years, Grotta Azzurra has now been stunningly renovated and rebirthed by a descendant renaissance for dining in Little Italy, with multi-talented chef Frank Castellana recreating the finest in Italian Cuisine.

“Lunch with Greyline Tours”
Reviewed March 26, 2014

This is were we stopped for lunch while taking the 8 hour Grey line bus tour of New York. The restaurant seemed to have done this many times before. The service was great and speedy as needed in this kind of situation. I really expected a very small portion and "okay" food. However, I have the steak which came with roasted potatoes and steamed broccoli and my husband had the Chicken Parm, and they were both great and with good portion size. I would definitely go back and recommend to friends.

“Excellent food and outstanding service”
Reviewed March 16, 2014

The pasta dishers were very good, and the waiter provided excellent service as well as good wine recommendations. The atmosphere is very Italian. We will go again!
We recommend this one in Little Italy!

“All right food but service so so”
Reviewed March 16, 2014

I just ate a chicken pasta course for lunch. Quite tasty but the waiter did not worry much about me. As if I did not exist.
Maybe I will come again another time, but then being together with other people.

“Tiny, but very cozy and nice”
Reviewed February 2, 2014

The restaurant is in Little Italy, so it's a really nice place. It's not very costly but there's not a lot of variety, so be careful when choosing food. They're happy to accomodate to your needs though, we asked for our sauce to be removed and they did it without any complains.
