Description: Founded in 1908 by the Davino family Grotta Azzurra was named for the blue grotto on the isle of Capri and designed to evoke the beauty of one of the worlds most famous caves in the world, intensified. Enrico Caruso feasted here after performances, and Sinatra called it his one and only favorite Italian restaurant, making it the site of many a “Rat Pack” evening. Shuttered for six years, Grotta Azzurra has now been stunningly renovated and rebirthed by a descendant renaissance for dining in Little Italy, with multi-talented chef Frank Castellana recreating the finest in Italian Cuisine.

“A stop in Little Italy”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

We ate here as part of tour we were taking. Five different entrees were ordered at our table and everyone liked what they got. This is advertised as one of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack's favorites. The restaurant has been in operation here for over 100 years.

“A bit of italy in bustling New York!”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

We took a tour and part of the tour was lunch at this restaurant.in the heart of little Italy, surrounded by real Italian/American first generation patrons..its as authentic as it gets...the flavours were like I was in Italy (in some ways better knowing that I was in New York!) delicious food. Our meal was included in the tour but hubby orderd a beer...it cost 10dollars........so have no clue as to what the actual prices are...

we loved the food, the service was good.

“two course lunch”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

My wife and I were looking for a not too expensive lunch when exploring the city. We had the prix-fixe lunch for US$ 9.95 and a glas of Montepulciano. The service was quick but un-personal. Guest are treated as numbers. The guest next to us received the first and second dish at the same time. The food was well prepared and tastefull. If you go for a quick lunch and do not bother about the unfriendly treatement, this restaurant is a good deal
