Description: n 1919 Gregorio Garofalo came over from Italy to begin his American dream... He rented a basement, put in his coal stoves, and sprinkled saw dust on the floor. With his knowledge of creating homemade wines, and his passion for cooking, Gregorio's dream began.... The name ..."Puglia" is a region in Southern Italy from which he immigrated. People came from far to indulge in the delicacies Gregorio prepared; Capuzzello (sheepshead), Tripe (the lining of the stomach of a young ox), and Pasta E Fagioli (pasta and beans), but what they loved the most was the way he treated everyone like his own family. Today with his 3rd generation carrying on the recipes and the values he taught them, Gregorio is smiling.... All of us at Puglia thank you for making Gregorio's dream a reality. Buona Sera

I was with my girlfriend and we were pretty tired of fast food restaurants. That's why went to this nice italian restaurant. It is not a trap, the food is great (trust me, I am Italian) and service is very nice and helpful. The prices are not so cheap, but c'mon.. remind that you are in Manatthan!

The restaurant was recommended by a friend who said the wine was great and the meal was too! The wine was ok, the meal took an hour and a half to come after they remove the bread from the table leaving us with nothing to eat with the wine. Finally when the meals came, after asking the waiter twice how much longer, they forgot to put one of the orders in.
Also very noisy, loud!
Good place to party not eat

We ducked into Puglia on a rainy day when we couldn't make up our mind about where to lunch. It was a fortuitous decision. Quite honestly, I thought we were headed to a tourist trap with nondescript food. Glad to say I proved myself wrong! We each had the fixed menu which is tremendous value, generous in portion, and top notch. The wine list was reasonable, especially for NYC.
Overall, we decided it was one of the best meals we had in New York and we've eaten at some of the City's finest places. For the price, selection and service, you can't beat it.

As a Brit in NY you couldn't ask for more than being taken to a restaurant in Little Italy by a born and bred Italian-American. And Puglia was absolutely superb, from the home made wine to the live music and general atmosphere. The tables are a bit basic and you may have to share with another party but that just adds to the entertainment of the evening.

I had the Rigatoni Al Vodka and it was fabulous.

A great evening and so inexpensive. If you like Italian food and are in NY then this is a must.

Thank Mike J
