Description: Scalini Fedeli ranked among New York's finest restaurants since its opening in early 2004, taking Italian cuisine to new heights. Rewarded with the highest overall ratings in the Zagat Survey, Scalini Fedeli has been granted one star by the Michelin guide in it's inaugural 2006 issue. The inviting decor features vaulted ceilings and European antiques and provides the perfect setting for chef Michael Cetrulo's delightful cuisine which offers the finest ingredients coupled with a confidence and grace that ensures your meal will be a memorable one. Menu highlights include soft egg yolk raviolo with ricotta and truffle butter and New York's finest venison chop in a port wine and balsamic vinegar sauce with toasted hazelnuts, sauteed spinach and roasted Mission figs. The 350-bottle wine list encompasses all regions of Italy but also does justice to the best American wineries.

“Great Food, Good Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2013

Had dinner here the other night as guest of a client I was visiting in New York. The restaurant has great warmth and atmosphere. The food was cooked with care and it showed that someone in the kitchen actually cared about the taste and presentation.

“Wonderful Food, Excellent Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2013

Eat with eight at eight this Wed and was very impressed. Feeling like a converted house, I can say that the feeling from the moment we arrived was as if we'd been welcomed in for the evening. A few of us arrived a bit early and we had drinks in what can best be described as an alcove towards the back of the restaurant. As small as it was, there was something calm about it all.

Once seated it was clear that the completely full restaurant was busy enough that conversations up and down the full length of the table were going to be a bit difficult but it wasn't terribly loud - and this being close to Christmas meant a lot of folks were there to make merry.

The food was excellent and the service was attentive, efficient but by no means overbearing.
Plain Italian this is not. Looking over the menu proved that there is a wide selection and everything is taken to the next level. In the end I chose salmon and was delighted. Every one at the table remarked about their food as being outstanding.

I spotted one couple celebrating her birthday - a small cake with a candle arrived. This would be a great place to celebrate something special. For a quiet business meal/discussion this might not be the best place. But why necessarily distract from a great meal with business any way!

Bookings are an absolute must.

“A hidden gem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2013 via mobile

We have visited NYC many times and went to Scalini Fedeli on the basis of reviews and were certainly not disappointed. It was almost like dining in the front room of a house........the service and standard of food was amazing. It is hard to single out dishes as they were all excellent ......my personal favorite would have to be the soft egg raviolo - absolutely outstanding
I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant as a hidden gem in NYC

“Across the street from Bouley, a million miles away”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2013 via mobile

Scalini Fedeli is not a place where diners wear suits and murmur. It is a place where people come to have a good time. The menu is ample, the food exceptionally well prepared, if not particularly italian. The service is exemplary, the wine list extensive, if not inexpensive.

A place to go back to.

“Truly a transcendent experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2013

Had high hopes before coming since the reviews were very promising, and a little worried when we arrived and saw how busy the place was and the tight seating arrangements.

However, it turned out to be one of the best meals of our life. The service was spot on and incredible to watch; the servers were very professional but moved so quickly around the place; very impressive.

The food, OMG (and I never say that). I had the carbonara pasta as an appetizer, and it was so flavorful and bursting with little surprises that I will never view this dish the same way again. But the star of the show was the pork chop main; I'm not a huge pork chop fan because it's so often dry and flavorless, but this dish was revolutionary. Medium-cooked, soft, juicy, intensely flavored and with just a perfect coating. One of those moments when you realize just how good a piece of meat can be.

The other dishes were also fantastic, and I only don't write about them because of the comparison to the two above. Again, one of the best meals we've ever had.
