we had a disappointing meal at this restaurant...the Zagat guide and other reviews on this site have sung its praises...however, our experience was less than stellar.
they are known for their 'freebies'.....well with the food being overly priced it is doubtful that there are any 'real-freebies'
As soon as we sat down a plate of something swimming in oil was literally plopped in front of us by a disinterested wait staff..upon inquiry we were informed that it was zucchini...it was too oily to digest well and overwhelmed with garlic..next a lump of parmesan cheese was served and a few Italian salami slices cut very thin (these were tasty)..after that warm garlic bread and tomatoes were served (passable, at best)--we ordered a veal dish ($27.50) and the pasta special ($40.00) which consisted of two pastas.... there was very little veal in the dish but loads of over-whelming wine/gravy and we had to return half of the pasta dish as it was (1) cold, (2) tasteless and (3) over cooked!!!!!!!!
The meal ended on a good note: -their home-made dessert , tiramisu, was delicious served with real whipped cream and raspberries. The room is adequate, nothing special and can be very loud if crowded...not a romantic destination. We would not return.
