While visiting our daughter in New York we ate there on two occasions.
We loved the food so much on our first visit, that we decided to go again before returning to the UK.
The service and food is outstanding. The restaurant and bar modern and spacious. There is a hum to the atmosphere. All other guest seem very happy with their food, smiles, laughter and quiet conversations. A sign of a good restaurant.
I would love to go more often to try all of the food on the menu.

Tamarind might be a little off the beaten path for out of towners used to the Indian restaurants in midtown Manhattan. The food at Tamarind is, however, worth the trek down to East 22nd Street in the Flat Iron District. The large, varied menu features well executed dishes, using quality ingredients, for every taste and fancy. The nan with onions is scrumptious! The noise level can be distracting for those who enjoy conversation while dining Ask for a quiet table in one of the alcoves along the wall. We had drinks at the bar while others finished their meal and the table was prepared. Our dining experience was well worth the wait. The food was delicious!

Started with drinks at the bar -- cocktail selection was very good; I enjoyed a Ginger Bellini. The bartender was appropriately attentive and very nice.

We had dinner in one of the booths on the perimeter of the restaurant which has a contemporary Indian vibe. I thought it was a beautiful setting. The staff was very courteous and made helpful suggestions to round out our meal. The wine list was robust. Lamb vindaloo was amazing -- delicious and spicy!

My wife, brother and sister-in-law went here on March 2nd. we were greeted at the door with smiles and a pleasant atmosphere. They handed us lavender scented towels as we sat down. The service was phenomenal from then on. We were never left lacking.
This is Indian food at its finest. I have not had any authentic Indian food that was this good! Highly recommend going.

Have been here a few times now, just went again the other night...let me say again, this place is great. Best Indian food I have had. The service was great, the food had a controllable mix of heat and flavor . Drinks kept flowing. Chicken curry...second to none. Nan was bottomless, and I tried to keep it empty. Lamb was extremely flavorful. Best desserts ever. Really, second to none. Love the fact the owner comes out and makes sure all are doing well.
