“Decent vegetarian food, odd atmosphere”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2012

If you wish to be treated with utter disdain by staff who seem to think that serving green tea and tofu is somehow beneath them, then you may well like this place. Our experience here threw a wet blanket over an otherwise exciting final night in NY. Angelica Kitchen gives ethical living a bad name.

“Vegan In The City”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2012

Although not vegan or vegetarian, I went to Angelica Kitchen with a vegetarian friend of mine who was visiting from Switzerland. She found the restaurant in the book Clean Plates NYC. There is no meat or dairy on the menu and it is not missed at all. The gazpacho was refreshing, the flavors not too overpowering, and the hummus was one of the best that I've ever had. Very creamy and flavorful. There is a great variety of dishes on the menu including grains and vegetable and even a meatless chili. The cold quinoa salad is loaded with vegetables and not over dressed, and the scallion pancake/crepe with vegetables is ample, flavorful and filling. The nectarine tart for dessert was just ok. It was overpowered by the cinnamon in the crust and the 'cream' on the side. Overall very good meal and I would recommend this to vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters. Cash only.

This was on my list to visit after seeing some lovely reviews and it didnt disappoint. I even took their recipe book away with me and have tried out some dishes since. They have a great menu which made my non veggie hubby happy, very friendly, a must visit!

“Great place in NYC”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2012

Found this place looking at a couple blogs reviewing vegetarian restaurants in NYC. The hostess helped explain the items on the menu and recommended items for us. All the food was great and because we couldn't decide on a dessert we tried two and LOVED them both. Terrific staff, terrific atmosphere, and completely terrific experience. I love that the menu requests people not use their cell phones in the restaurant. Will definitely return when in NYC again.
