This restaurant has the ambience of one you would find anywhere in Tokyo – small and slightly below street level, understated but elegant décor of simple but well finished light wood furniture, professional, courteous but not overly exuberant service. We had an assortment of dishes, including some not regularly found elsewhere -natto maki, and chawanmushi (egg custard), two of my favorites. The one impression you’ll come away with is that here everything’s prepared just the way it should be down to the smallest detail, the sushi rice was nice and soft but not stuck together, tempura batter was light and fluffy (you also get the pile of shaved daikon for the sauce which seems to be omitted by many restaurants), so was the batter for the age tofu (it stays on when you pick up the piece), expertly grilled salmon, dainty seaweed salad. To top off we had grilled banana with green tea ice cream. It’s not cheap but the food quality was well worth the price. An excellent place to go for authentic Japanese food.
