The tables may be very close together, however there was a great atmosphere, the staff were great and the food really great. Two Brits had a wonderful night there.

We had a company get-together. The staff was very attentive without being a bother and let us conduct our business conversation without imposing. The wine list was complete and our selection fabulous. Main course (I had the peppered tuna) was delivered timely, hot and everyone's meal arrived together. The desert sampling was OMG. A bit crouded but we had a nice corner that let us converse so this was not a problem. Would give it a try again.

Friends made the reservation because they raved about how wonderful this place is. We waited 20 minutes to be seated for our 8:00pm reservation. The place is small, the noise deafening and they couldn't possibly squeeze in another chair, much less another table. Do you like constantly bumping elbows with the diners at the tables around you? If so then you will have fun dining here.

Our waitperson was fine. She was friendly and attentive. However, where ever they got their bus people from is beyond me. They were rude and obtrusive. Because the place is so OVER crowded, they reach over you to serve everyone at your table. If you enjoy a nice smelly underarm in your face, you will enjoy dining here. If you ask for something extra, such as butter, better wait until the wait person comes back to your table as asking any of the bus people is like talking into the wind. Once they do bring something it is shoved onto the table, never mind that your hand might be in the way, it will just be pushed out of the way without any "excuse me" or "sorry."

Appetizers were good. My mixed salad was ordinary along with the house dressing on it. Entrees were OK, but again nothing extraordinary or even special. My fish was moist but lacked any discernible flavor. For the price, the food should be, at the very least excellent, if not outstanding. I've had MUCH better meals in less expensive and touted Italian restaurants and been better treated and more comfortable for much less money.

Would I return or recommend this place? NOT LIKELY!

We travel often to New York, and are always up to trying new restaurants, since we love food!! We came across Novita', a cozy trattoria style restaurant in the Gramercy Park neighbourhood. The menu is Italian cuisine and the food was exceptional; everything we ate, from the appetizers, to the main, and ultimately the dessert, was delicious. We would definitely recommend this place, and return when we're back in the big Apple.

We made a late reservation and arrived for an early diner and were greeted by a jovial matre d'. WE were at a corner table which afforded us some privacy, without being in the trafic flow of this charming minute restaurant. Everything ws perfection and I will return here time and time again. I only wish it were in my neighborhood!
