Description: One of America’s most beloved restaurants, Gramercy Tavern has welcomed guests for close to two decades to enjoy seasonal American cuisine, warm hospitality and unparalleled service. The restaurant is perennially ranked at the top of Zagat Survey’s ‘Most Popular’ list, and has garnered eight James Beard Awards including ‘Outstanding Restaurant’ and ‘Best Chef: NYC’. Chef Michael Anthony’s highly seasonal menu consists of elegant dishes with a rustic influence that showcase the restaurant’s relationships with local farms and purveyors. The Main Dining Room serves prix-fixe menus starting at $92 for dinner and an a la carte menu for lunch, and accepts reservations 28 days in advance. The more casual Tavern serves an a la carte menu centered around the wood burning grill, and welcomes guests on a walk-in basis. The restaurant also features an acclaimed wine list, and thoughtfully selected beer and cocktail offerings.

“Superb!”
Reviewed April 2, 2014

Had the great pleasure of dining here on 3-28-2014. The whole experience from service to the meal was top notch! The servers are attentive without hovering. Yes, it's a bit spendy but worth every penny.

“Great place to spend a few hours.”
Reviewed April 2, 2014

Walked in mid afternoon for some late lunch and got a table on the 'tavern' side which was perfect for us as it's much less formal than the restaurant. The service and food were great and the place had a relaxing atmosphere and didn't feel rushed to move on or speed through courses so the table could be re-sold again.

“Memorable Evening at Gramercy Tavern”
Reviewed April 2, 2014

We visited NYC for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday and dined at Gramercy Tavern. What a special night! The service was impeccable and the decor, lovely. We had the tasting menu and everything was simply delicious and beautifully presented. We mentioned to our server that we had plans to eat dessert elsewhere, and so would skip the dessert course. When it was time to leave, she presented us with a bag containing two little cakes and two boxes packed with an assortment of cookies - dessert to go! We enjoyed the scrumptious treats the next morning for breakfast. The professionalism and kind attentions of our server and the rest of the staff, the elegant floral arrangements, and the yummy food will not soon be forgotten. What I most appreciated, besides the service, was that the dining experience was very relaxed and comfortable -- not a bit stuffy or pretentious -- even though everything was so elegant.

“It Just Doesn't Get Any Better Than This”
Reviewed April 1, 2014

Even though I lived in New York for many years and continue to visit frequently, I had never been to this well-known establishment. I can find no fault with the service, ambiance, setting or meal. I had been prepared for the high prices, but they seemed by the end of our meal to be totally justified. It is a superb restaurant. The chef is generous with his amuse-bouche and they are fun. I rarely order dessert after such a large meal, but I did at Grammercy because I didn't want the experience to end. I look forward to going back very soon and eating off the front room (tavern) menu, as the open kitchen there was creating some incredible aromas. Make sure you understand that you are eating some of the best food and will pay luxury prices.

“Absolutely Brilliant!!!”
Reviewed April 1, 2014 via mobile

We went here for my husband’s 30th birthday meal. There was 7 of us and we had a nice large round table. The menu we thought at first was quite limited if we are honest but each course was amazing. On Saturdays they have a set menu only, which was $102 pp for a three course meal. Sounds a lot but convert to GBP and its not as bad as you think. The food was wonderful, the servers were great and friendly. It’s very posh and you have more than one waiter attend your table to clear all plates in one go. As for the no bread comment below, a few on our table were envious that they didn't pick the same as the others (one was a plain bread the other a roll with chives) so we asked the waiters and they happily, no questions asked brought us more. They offered the whole table more too. I doubt if you ever asked they would say no. They pride themselves on service out there as they all want a good tip so bad service is quite hard to find. They don't give you a basket I agree but you certainly don't need it with the amount of food you get and you want to enjoy your courses more. All in all we had about 7 courses and we ordered from the 3 course set menu. One was a muffin to take home so technically breakfast the next day!! We had a free starter which was tiny but you don’t want two massive starters. Then we had our mains followed by a pallet cleanser and then desert. They gave us a free desert for the table which was a fruit crumble with ice cream followed by chocolates and a muffin each, wrapped and ready to take home. They also made an 'angel cake' for my husband which came on its own little mini cake stand with a candle.
We had no issues or problems at all. Including a fairly expensive bottle of wine it was $130 each which at our conversion rate for our currency was £78...for 7 courses. I am definitely not complaining! We had a wonderful time and great way to celebrate his birthday. I would highly recommend it and will go back when we return to NYC!
Yellow taxi from Times Square to Gramercy was $13 roughly.
