Description: One of America’s most beloved restaurants, Gramercy Tavern has welcomed guests for close to two decades to enjoy seasonal American cuisine, warm hospitality and unparalleled service. The restaurant is perennially ranked at the top of Zagat Survey’s ‘Most Popular’ list, and has garnered eight James Beard Awards including ‘Outstanding Restaurant’ and ‘Best Chef: NYC’. Chef Michael Anthony’s highly seasonal menu consists of elegant dishes with a rustic influence that showcase the restaurant’s relationships with local farms and purveyors. The Main Dining Room serves prix-fixe menus starting at $92 for dinner and an a la carte menu for lunch, and accepts reservations 28 days in advance. The more casual Tavern serves an a la carte menu centered around the wood burning grill, and welcomes guests on a walk-in basis. The restaurant also features an acclaimed wine list, and thoughtfully selected beer and cocktail offerings.

“Enjoyed the synchronized wait staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013

Went with a group of 6 from work. Expense account dinner. The servers were excellent, the way they worked the table taking away dishes and bringing dishes were synchronized.

My appetizer was very good. My meal was average and on the small side. My buddy went home and grilled a hamburger at 10 o'clock at night because he was hungry after our dinner at 7PM at Gramercy. The beer was good but the lowest price was $8 a bottle which I think is a bit much for a beer.

I think there are good places to eat in NY without charging $100 a head for a meal without drinks. Just my two cents.

“Pretty much great”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2013

Well done.

Food is reasonably priced and cooked with skill. Ingredients are obviously quality. Service is on point. A fine selection of wines/spirits/cocktails. An atmosphere that hits the right note between too relaxed and too stuffy, and one that makes perfect sense with the menu. A nice bar. Stylish patrons, a mix of ages, who aren't trying too hard. A few tiny missteps (e.g., some entree portions are smaller than small), but overall: much to like here. The place has been going strong for a while and doesn't show signs--at least to me--of falling off.

“What a great experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2013

When you eat at a highly rated restaurant, wouldn't it be great if you received VIP service as well as a delicious meal that you will long remember? That's exactly what we experienced at Gramercy! From the beautiful corner booth we sat in to the delicious food and wine we shared, the entire evening was spectacular! Our server (Alvaro) was so enthusiastic about what we were to be consuming that evening he even brought out tastings of the wines we were trying to choose between. We mentioned that our teenage son had just finished his first year of exams at college and they wrote "congratulations" on his dessert plate! They serve Blue Bottle Coffee too! Everything was perfect and delectable and I cannot wait to return the next time I'm in Manhattan! So worth the money!!

“Fantastic food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2013

Such a great experience. Was there on a busy night but we got a table in the tavern. Food was phenomenal. The beet salad was delicious and the wine list was fabulous. Our server was so knowledgeable about the menu and recommended well. They knew it was our anniversary and made it a lovely meal complete with a complimentary dessert. Loved it

“This is New York!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2013

Been visiting Gramercy Tavern for years and it never disappoints. We visited on a Saturday evening and as usual, we opted to eat in the Tavern section of the restaurant. We prefer the Tavern section since it is much more casual than the main dining section.

Anyway, the flower arrangement was beautiful as always and the food was over the top. I had the tasting menu (4 course) with the highlight being the fish and tomato chowder and the duck meatloaf... yes duck meatloaf. First the chowder was not what one would expect. it was not chowder like, but more like a shellfish served in an amazing tomato broth. Unreal. The duck meatloaf was one of the most delicious dishes i have ever eaten (go figure... meatloaf).

This place never ceases to amaze us. Each time we come, it is an adventure. When you order something as plain as meatloaf, it is stunning that they can transform meatloaf into a culinary delight. There is no place better than Gramercy Tavern. Amazing food, great Tavern environment; totally New York.
