Excellent, creative, healthy, gluten if, if desired food. I consider this restaurant a great find for lunch or dinner. Lovely atmosphere.

I am not a vegan but do enjoy going to for vegan food. I always wanted to come here and never had the opportunity until now. A few of us came for brunch and everything on the menu looked delicious. They give you free mini blueberry muffins which were amazing, so delicious and did not taste vegan at all. We then split the quinoa pancakes with strawberry butter. Wow! Easily some of the best pancakes I have ever had in my life. I then had the seitan piccata, my boyfriend had the wild mushroom fricassee and my sis had the black bean burger. The seitan was the favorite dish of the table, but the polenta fries that came with the black bean burger were off the chart. Who knew polenta could be that good? We were way too full for dessert but the peach empanadas sound heavenly! A must go back for dinner and dessert. Service was impeccable.

My brother is a vegan.. And it's a pain. I always feel bad going out to dinner with him as I devour a juicy steak and he gives me dirty looks regarding what I did to the poor animal. So during our vacation in NYC I decided to spoil him and suffer quietly as we go to a vegan restaurant.

This place is fantastic. I truly enjoyed everything we had and I did not feet at all like I was missing out. Made me consider (just for a tiny split second) to become vegan myself...but living without sushi will kill me!

Anyway, highly recommended and just amazing fresh yummy interesting food. Loved it.

Went here on a whim without a booking and was luckily accomodated after 20 mins. Service was impeccable as would be expected of such a place. Was a little while ago I went but remember the food having very good quality ingredients cooked and presented well. The main was a slight letdpwwn on flavour compared to the very good starter. The recommended white wine was a winner and the dessert was sublime. I would definitely go back. Not sure there is enough here to convert the carnivores though!

This is not my first time at Candle 79 and I regret not having made an additional reservation for this short NYC trip. The food was excellent: The Seitan skewers were delicious, so was the raw stuffed zucchini blossom with salad. Desserts were excellent, except maybe for the cannoli. A little too much chocolate. Of course all topped off with a Schneider Weisse TAP4 (yum!).

My only gripe: I felt that service was rushed this time. Just not enough time to really enjoy the food. To a point that after 3 desserts I decided to call it quits and leave. I know you want to turn the table over. But what the heck! Here I am consuming for this and the next party! Cut the crap and cater to your customers properly next time.
