Star studded on a Tuesday night - with both Woody Allen & Tim Curry flanking both my right & left wings. This place is the shiznet, and like one would expect, mega-pricey, but worth every penny. Great food & service. Lovely, intimate ambience.

“Restaurant week lunch menu”

We enjoyed the restaurant week lunch menu. The highlight of the meal is the really beautiful dining room and wonderful service at this well reviewed location. The food is wonderful and certainly a great value during this time of year. Enjoy this UES gem whenever you can.

“Inedible Soup”

Daniel Boulud should be severely punished for serving the mushroom-barley soup the Café Boulud provided in February 2014, and the severe punishment I recommend is to be required to consume it. Yes, a whole bowl-full! No one at our table snagged even a part of a mushroom, and the absence of cries of joy suggest that no one in the restaurant that day did either. And the one commercial beef bouillon cube that must have been used for the day's soup was neither appropriate nor adequate.

The atmosphere is splendid, but the food isn't.

Colleagues and I had a business dinner here. The food and the service are in general over the top. I had the endive salad with a very delicate mixture of blue cheese and walnuts at first and then the duck breast, which was done to perfection. The wine suggestion - a red wine from Oregon - was excellent. In terms of my dessert (flowerless chocolate cake), I have to admit that I had better versions hereof in Vienna and most certainly in Paris: the version at Boulud had a rather (too?) hard crust. Only major point of criticism: at the entrance there is not enough space for people who enter the restaurant and those who are getting back their coats. The current solution is certainly not the most elegant one.
