For our last night in New York our hotels concierge suggested Scalinatella when we said we wanted Italian food. I checked it out on Trip Advisor and read several reviews...all pretty spot on. Good food, expensive (but not really surprisingly so) and the continuing theme that service was a bit rude/odd. We seemed to have two waiters during the evening. Our primary waiter was somewhat brusque--not really rude but definitely not people focused. Then we had a wonderful, chatty second waiter who came along a few minutes behind the first one to see if we had questions and made sure everything was taken care of. The menu is brief but the list of specials expansive. Pay attention when they rattle off all your options--it's hard to keep up! The beef carpaccio was delicious and my grilled sea bass was really good as well. My husband had the bone in veal chop and said it was good but not fantastic. We split cheesecake for dessert and it was very good--light with a very delicate crust.
