Description: Welcome to Sushi of Gari! This restaurant is the original restaurant specializing in the wonderful taste of Gari Signature Sushi by Masatoshi GARI Sugio. This restaurant is rather a small establishment, but we offer an amazing Sushi as well as many traditional Japanese dishes. In addition to many very fresh authentic Japanese Sushi, let us surprise you by Gari's originality: some area slightly cooked, or marinated, and served with a variety of home-made sauces or other delicacies which enhance the daily marketfs freshest seafood, many of which are from Japan especially for Sushi of Gari.

Most creative and unique Omakase I've ever had. Very pricey; highly recommended for special occasions.

The Omakase is the must have. It is practically the chef's creations of the day which you discover when served. You can tell the waiter if you like or dislike something and the chef factors it in. You can start by 8 pieces and go to 12 (100 usd for the 12 pieces) or more if you are still hungry. Anyway you pay per piece. Except that we could not understand all the above from our waitress and the communication problem ruined my dinner because some other members of our party of four ate my Omakase not knowing it was mine. The waitress might have been over loaded because we couldn't ask her 2 questions in a row, she was constantly running away. Do not expect a fancy decoration for this tiny restaurant that has 1 Michelin star, but you can count on having one of the best sushis ever. Do not miss the signature mille crepes on the desert menu, coming from Lady M.

Sushi unlike the usual. Interesting toppings with a variety.of herb toppings. Next time we'll try the special menu but this was a great intro to the restaurant. Pricier than most run of the mill sushi restaurants but well worth it. They also have some very interesting high quality Japanese beers including a chocolaty stout.

I travel to NYC every year and I come to this restaurant every time. I order their Omakase (tasting menu) and they never fail to amaze me. Even the sushi rice tastes deliciouse!! You don't need soya sauce with the sushi because every piece comes with toppings which absolutely complement the fish. Very creative and innovative!

Sushi of Gari at the Upper East Side of New York is an excellent sushi restaurant (although expect really high prices). The type of sushi that they offer is completely different (in a good sense) of sushi. Nevertheless, be very careful. It seems that the owners of the restaurant have decided to make profits from the reputation of the restaurant at the Upper East Side, and they have opened branches at other locations throughout New York. My wife and I went yesterday to the branch in Tribeca. The menu (and the high prices) are exactly the same than those at the Upper East Side, but sushi is disgusting.
