Description: Welcome to Sushi of Gari! This restaurant is the original restaurant specializing in the wonderful taste of Gari Signature Sushi by Masatoshi GARI Sugio. This restaurant is rather a small establishment, but we offer an amazing Sushi as well as many traditional Japanese dishes. In addition to many very fresh authentic Japanese Sushi, let us surprise you by Gari's originality: some area slightly cooked, or marinated, and served with a variety of home-made sauces or other delicacies which enhance the daily marketfs freshest seafood, many of which are from Japan especially for Sushi of Gari.

“Favorite Restaurant”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

This is my all time favorite. Every time I fly into NYC first dinner is always here. However: You NEEd to sit at the bar, NOT the tables (its just not the same at the tables), order the sushi that they chef prepares, tell them what you don't eat/like and enjoy! They give you one piece at a time, each piece is a little recipe that makes you smile and want to clap....its absolutely amazing! Careful with the Sake as it get get pricey and also: The bill is random....not sure if it depends on the time spent there or what, but I always pay it with a big smile....Just amazing.

“delicious sushi”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

we had a fabulous meal at Gari. Even tho we had no reservation, the hostess was so accommodating and we waited only minutes for seats. We were given the opportunity to sample a few types of saki before making a selection.

“Very good sushi but not worth ridiculous prices”
Reviewed May 24, 2013

Very good sushi. I would say 5 star sushi. But not worth the astronomical price. We got the omakase menu and prob had around 15 pieces each. No alcohol, no appetizers, no dessert. For two people $400+. It was a bday dinner so the expense on a birthday is fine but $200 a piece for sushi and I'm not even stuffed? I dont think so. Very high tech bathrooms. Service is ok. Fish is fresh and very creative but there actually more creative sushi places now. If the price was 3 bills I would say thats fair but over 4 bills, for around 30 pieces a sushi means each piece (bite) was between $8-15 and the worse part was you didnt know how much it was going to cost.

“Excellent, but expensive sushi”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

Got the Omakase (tasting menu) and it was brilliant. Very creative and unique. The flavors were amazing, very complex and varying. Had things that will go on my all time favorite list. Very expensive meal though, really a special occasion splurge. Service was very professional and friendly and made for a great experience. Only issue was that the food was so good we plowed through it so quickly that for all the money we spent the meal didn't last very long.

“Excellent but very pricey”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

The sushi is outstanding. The people are lovely. But, they seem to overprice as compared to other nearby restaurants.
