“One of my favorite places in NYC”
Reviewed May 15, 2013

Cafe Sabarsky and Neue Galerie is one of my favorite places in all of NYC.
I've gone for dessert, coffee or for a meal, and every time it never fails me. The service is impeccable. The food is delicious and presented thoughtfully. One of my favorite dishes is Räucherlachs mit Streichkäse : Smoked Salmon with Cream Cheese & Scallions. I love the sweets as well.

“Best coffee in the old-world setting.”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

I love this classy old-world cafe. The coffe is strong but not bitter with pleasant flavor, the desserts are superbly prepared, and the atmosphere is so19th century Vienna! Go for the experience and for coffee, but be prepared to wait in a long line if you come at lunchtime.

“Vienna in NYC”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

After a visit to Klimt's famous gold portrait(amazing piece of art) in the Neue Galerie, we stopped at the cafe there for an early lunch. Two in our party had open faced sandwiches ( liverwurst and smoked salmon) accompanied by small salads, both of which were fresh and delicious. All 3 in our party had pastries: linzer tort, lemon curd biscuit and coffee cream pastry - all small and tasty, each 'mit schlag' , fresh whipped cream. All that with one pot of tea to share was $75 - seemed pricey for small plates ( but it is New York), but we were not rushed, and the dark panelled room was cozy. We were lucky to get a banquette looking out at 5th Avenue and Central Park.

“Lovely little Viennese Cafe.”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

Created in the style of a Viennese Coffee House, the small cafe on the ground floor of the Neue Gallerie offers a great breakfast, along with magnificent strudels and other Viennese specialties. Try the quark strudel. It is divine--or the cucumber lemonade. It’s delightfully refreshing.

“Lack lustre and overpriced.”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

W have in the past had lunch here (very good) but this time thougt we would go for breakfast (which is supposed be special). The room is of course charming and the outlook good, but the breakfast was not special and the staff were not at all engaged. In a city where it is easy to get a very good breakfast for a decent price this did not meet the average standard. At $54.44 plus tip I think anyone would expect more, simply relying on the charm of the venue is not good enough.
