“home!”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

One of the REAL french restaurant left in town.
Feels like home, and taste like home, the way ther french love to greet you for dinner.
Convivial is the word, smooth is the atmosphere, trusted are the choices of the signature dishes of their flavorful and filling cooking.
But there is something more you do not perceive when you first come there for dinner. After a few visits they are obvious and add that much value to this excellent house.
This place is run by an entire family (under the gentle direction and warm welcome of Annick, mother, sister and mother in law of the rest of the family) a token of lasting quality, service and care.
No music, and no cell phone usage allowed. You can have a normal conversation without returning home with a loss of voice.
Tables are set in a way that you do not have to face a wall or worst a mirror as you usually give the best seat facing the room to you beloved second half.
Pay attention to the specials of the day: some delicious surprises may entice you to a come back, the bouillabaisse (Friday nights) for example is of a rare quality and freshness.
And finally, the very helpful service (thanks `Petite` Annick) will go with YOUR flow. No rush here this is dinner at home.

It is time to rediscover slow. Take it easy, very easy. Enjoy your party, and let `la maitresse de maison' take such a good care of your comfort, your comfort.. food.
Slow food is a past fad, but for some of us, it is still a way of life.

“Our family's favorite restaurant for the last 7-8 years”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

We've been going to this restaurant for the last 7 to 8 years. In a nut shell, the food is cooked in a traditional style and with love, and ALWAYS tastes outstanding. If you like French food, you will be happy. The real reason we go time after time though is because the servers are such warm and wonderful and caring people. They themselves are a real family (some related, and some long time employees) - and they make their customers feel like family too -- that's why we go regularly. I feel like it's an extension of our own home/family. If you are lucky, you will catch Danielle break into singing French classics, it sends shivers up my spine every time. I think she is the artist that has painted all the pictures on the walls too.

Even though it's a classic French restaurant, they do their very best to accommodate diners who bring their children (they have a booster seat and puzzles and drawing/crayons) - but still it's a relatively formal atmosphere and we always try to get our kids out of there before 8pm so the more serious diners don't have to worry!

We love this restaurant and hope that they stay for many many more years!

“it's an odd place”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

I've been here several times now. The food is good, although something is missing. Maybe it's the dreary decor and the feeling you are not really in a place where the high prices are deserved. It's very popular with the very old crowd. I can't help but feel something is missing. The desserts weren't very good. The food seems to be a bit overcooked and maybe has been prepared in advance. Still a lot of what was on the plate was delicious. Dinner for two without wine came to over sixty dollars per person, which was high considering the food wasn't that outstanding.

“For real French food and atmosphere”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

This small exquisitely French restaurant serves up everything you expect from a good French menu along with a staff that is professional - and French themselves. It's a delight.

“Excellent neighborhood bistro”
Reviewed August 2, 2012

La Mirabelle is an old standby that offers much better than expected cuisine and service. It feels exactly like a bistro in France unlike most bistro wanabees in New York City. The food is universally delicious and the service informal, friendly, and informed. Very good value as well.
