“So, so food at high prices”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

Scaletta has great atmosphere and promises to deliver exceptional food and service -- but neither arrived. The wait staff seemed bored with service, inattentive, and slightly demeaning. Food sounded wonderful on the menu but arrived as bland as the service and rather unremarkable. Prices were average to high for this restaurant.

“Excellent dinner....excellent service”
Reviewed February 5, 2013

Six of us had dinner here... terrific evening. Wonderfully quiet so you could actually converse. Four had caprese salad and the tomatoes were actually tomatoes which is unusual in February. One had a "fantastic" Caesar salad and i had sauteed artichokes with mushrooms. Highly recommend.

Dinner entrees included two veal parmegianno. Very good. one excellent Veal chop and one very good pasta bolognaise. Desserts included mango tart, rice cake and chocolate tarts of a type. Everyone was happy.

Service was attentive but not intrusive. Pleasant atmosphere. Recommend.

“A feeling of family dining in NYC”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

From the minute I made the reservation to the moment we came in the door, it was like we had know the people forever. This was the first week of December, all decorated with flowers on the tables and a good feeling of the upcoming holiday.
It was special for our son's bday and his choral concert was that afternoon, so we ate everything that came . The pastas were homemade the sauce lite but ample, the pork was a huge portion the fish dish was spicy and tangy, and then desert the tiramisu was very fresh, and oh yes, the wines were not badly priced,
It is so close to the park, so close to so many wonderful attractions, and yes it is like family and they do have a party room, so if you need a special event place just book it. enjoy!

“Still excellent after 25 years”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

An Upper West Side icon with great food and atmosphere. Here you can HEAR what your friends have to say, as the tables are well spaced.
Wait staff are well trained, with many working there for years. If you are looking for a quiet place to entertain guests without feeling rushed, you will not be disappointed. Food is fresh and well prepared. And if you have room for dessert, try their rice pudding cake.

“Under the radar”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

Went here the night before new years eve and it was super quiet. That being said, the food was delicious. I highly recommend the lasagna bolognese. One thing to keep in mind - their wine selection is almost completely by the full or half bottle.
