In a city with tons of restaurant, this is one that has maintained its standards for many years. The burgers are a delicacy and the fish and salads are incredible. I have friends who have been coming here from out of state every time they come to NYC for decades. The wine list is wonderful and the wait staff is terrific. It is busy most of the time, so get a reservation and understand that it is a bit noisy, but we were able to hear each other at the table for five. There is also a wine bar for your enjoyment. Cafe Luxembourg is close enough to walk to Lincoln Center if you are so inclined.

fpthis place was recommended by a few friends so I was looking forward to dinner but what a disappointment (service not food). 20 mins after we were seated and still no one had even asked us if we wanted a drink never mind food. Food was good when it arrived but this place needs to sharpen up if it wants repeat customers. Coats weren't even hung up but simply thrown in a pile on a chair. There are definitely better places to spend your money in NYC

Hey there, this definitely sounds like a miscommunication amongst our staff. We can promise you our service is normally very sharp, and someone must have just missed the greeting phase for you. Obviously, there's no excuse for having to wait nearly 20 minutes for someone to show up to the table, so we want to offer our apologies for that. The good news is feedback like this does help us know where we can improve, so we'll be talking to the team about the proper steps of service when it comes to greeting a table. We want to avoid mishaps like this in the future, and, again, we're really sorry that you had to wait so long to get served when you came in.

Met friends for a late lunch. The place was packed. 4 of us were packed at a Very small table. Ambiance was loud. Pomme frittes were great, as was the BLT. Price was no worse than other lunch places, but the crowdedness was a detriment.

Mary, while it does get extra busy during the lunch rush, we would hope it didn't impact your visit too much. We'd love it if you and your friends came back to enjoy some more frites at another time so we can show you what we're really about without any distractions. If you ever make it back to the city, we'd relish that opportunity.

I've been to Cafe Luxembourg many times, and this Sunday brunch was bustling, however the front desk staff was really accommodating. We had an OpenTable reso, so one cannot expect an on time seating. Cafe Luxembourg was only off by 6 minutes. No problemo.
I would suggest calling the restaurant directly for a reso.
Food:
Salmon tartare w/ jalapeno, superb!
Veggie hash had rave reviews at the table. We all shared.

Frites alert: Just order them with anything! Double fried, just like in Belgium! I could make this a main course. Mayo please. Not ketchup.

Atmosphere: Art Decco. Be sure and pick up a postcard or two of the three naked babe's at the bar. Classic.

You had the classic Cafe Luxembourg experience, it sounds like! We're so glad you came in for brunch and had a good time. You certainly know your way around, too, based on your knowledge of the frites. Needless to say, we look forward to seeing you again next time you're looking for an authentic French brunch experience.

This is a cozy and intimate space serving classic bistro fare near Lincoln Center. Attentive service. Had steak frites, lobster roll and roast chicken with an excellent Cote du Rhone, followed by crime brûlée and lemon tart. All superb. Will return.
