Dependable, with a couple of stellar selections - the Spaghetti alla Rustica is to die for, and the Ossobuco may just be the best I've ever had! Plus they've got a wonderful Kids' Menu, so it's the perfect place for the whole family!

Discovered it accidentally on Madison Ave at E 86th St., while looking for Dean and Deluca (what a snack place!)
Good Italian food, very knowledgable and efficient lady headwaitress. Good dinner menu, interesting specials. Very tasty asparagus and mushroom appetiser. Took my calves liver back for an extra 1 minute cooking without hesitation. Generous wine-by-the-glass. More relaxing to eat upstairs. Although not necessary to book weekdays, it was pretty full at 6PM. 2-course dinner for one cost $70 inc. wine and tip. Lunch could be 30% cheaper, as in many USA restaurants.

We were in the upper restaurant. We had both the mozarella cheese appetizer and the cooked mushroom appetizers. I'm getting hungry just remembering them. The fresh bread they give you is great, but watch out for the butter--they add some oil and peppers on top of it. I had the spinach ravioli which was excellent, and my wife had the spinach dumplings, which seemed more like a gnocci. We had a citrus soufle which was excellent, as well as a cheesecake. Dinner was about $150 (we didn't order any alcohol). Service was excellent. We got there at 615 PM, which was perfect since it seemed to get packed about 30 minutes later.

Will definitely return when we visit NYC again.

The establishment has a downstairs cafe and an upstairs restuarant. We went to the restaurant. The servers were attentive, but not intrusive. They have a nice selection of specials. The meal was a bit expensive, but quite good. The view and ambiance are very nice. With locations close to Central Park and the art museums I think this would be a good choice for lunch as well. This would be a good “special occasion” restaurant. We enjoyed ourselves and I would definitely go back again.

This upper east side eatery is just minutes away from museum mile, but is far enough removed that you should not have to jostle for a seat during the lunch hour. We have enjoyed many meals here, but like to go best for lunch when it is less crowded, less noisy and the menu prices are more reasonable. If you like a crispy chicken cutlet with salad, the Milanese won't disappoint; the Saltimbocca is the chef's own tasty take on this Italian traditional entree, and we always enjoy the caesar salad, with or without the added chicken or shrimp. A few notes: there are different menus, depending on the time of day and where you sit (up or down); if you go for an early lunch, you might run in to the mommy stroller crowd.
