Description: On May 1, 1975, Silvano Marchetto opened the doors to what was to become one of the most successful restaurants in New York history. Silvano reinvented Italian restaurants by introducing New Yorkers to Cucina Toscana (true Tuscan food) while injecting a rock 'n' roll energy filled with everything that is Downtown cool. The amazing food, the fashionably fabulous customers, and the entertaining environment make Da Silvano a favorite for many. Whether colleagues come to discuss deals over lunch, first dates come to fall in love over dinner, or friends come to enjoy the sidewalk people-watching on a warm evening, few leave without lasting memories.Serving lunch and dinner seven days a week, the restaurant is always bustling, and continually offers new and innovative menu specials. In the warmer months during Spring, Summer and Fall, the restaurant's large sidewalk café is the perfect spot to wine and dine with friends and family while taking part in some of the best people watching in Manhattan.

“As tasty as Tuscany”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2013

In: Greenwich Village
Focus: Tuscan cuisine
Between: Houston and Bleecker Streets.

Both lunch and dinner are an amazing experience...
But for the last 12 years, I've landed in Manhattan and promptly arrived at the next lunch time affair here... at Da Silano...
It seems to set the tempo for the whole visit to NY... "A bit of Italian tempo in the middle, of all that is Manhattan"

At lunch I've never needed reservations, although the food would be worthy of waiting for...
Silvano, is almost always on site...
adding his personal charm and oversight to this fabulous eatery.

Most recently I enjoyed the special mussel dish pared with a Pino Grigio - which Silvano recommended..  Only to be overwhelmed by a whole vertically roasted duck with a fantastic Chianti....  It was the perfect lunch before for shopping / touring around the area...
In fact, it was so good, on our last visit we had the same for dinner a couple of days later... and where surprised to have Major Bloomberg and party... sit just across from us...

There is often a wait and or reservation required at dinner time... But for me... a lunch at Da Silvano's is unbeatable....
The quality of the ingredients are unparalleled and taste like they've been smuggled in from Tuscan itself...
It's that good..
and for those of you that have had the taste bud orgasm experience of the flavors from Tuscany in Tuscany.... You will understand how close this is....

I visit NY almost once a year... and each time I always visit Da Silvano's for lunch or more....
It is truly a taste bud orgasm in America!

My fiancee and I recently had dinner at Da Silvano and it was really, really good. We received great service from the staff, and we really enjoyed our meals.

“For a pleasant, very pleasant night.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2012

I enjoyed it a lot. For the atmosphere, the personell, the food quality. It's somehow a truly New York and a truly Italian experience. It makes you feel in continuity of time with famous Americans and Italians that made this place famous. I will come back.

“Great choice for dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2012

The five of us sat at a nice round table up front of a window. The service was excellent without being intrusive. The pumpkin soup appetizer was delicious and lovely to look at too! Two appetizers from the menu pleased us too - the Fiori Fritti and the Crostini Toscani. All of us enjoyed our entrees - noodles, ravioli, veal. We chose to share Bongo Bongo and Sorbetto al Cocco desserts - a very nice way to end a delicious meal. We were not rushed to finish our meals. I would like to visit Da Silvano again and try other dishes.

“Daughter - Father dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2012

Wow, in October out on the terrace. My daughter at the UN and me visiting. She read a book by Danielle Steel and we booked the restaurant and it took my daughter right into the heart of the book. Great service, excellent food, tasteful glass of wine. and afterwards a photograph outside the Friends'apartment building, which is nearby.
