On a recent trip to NY a group of us stopped here for dinner. The food was excellent - true to the southwest style and flavor while being creative and unique.

Wasn't sure what to expect. My experience at famous chefs restaurants hasn't been great. This is an exception to that. Great atmosphere. Cool menu with southwestern twist. We had blue corn pancake which had duck in it. Was really awesome. Also had spicy chicken skewer. Gala apple salad was great. We had a NY strip and filet. They were both cooked perfect and were very tender. They had really nice sauces. Sides were all very good. We had churros and the pretzel tart. Both were great. The best part is my 13 year old son chose this restaurant and he loved it also. We will be back.

We are fans of Bobby Flay's TV shows and wanted to see if his actual restaurant matched up to his image. We were not disappointed at all. We reserved for late in the lunch hour and had no problem at all getting our table on a Tuesday. I had read complaints about staff and average food, but our experience was the opposite. Our waiter and other staff were all very happy to help and timely with everything. We got good advice from our waiter about what would be special and what might be average and he was right on the money.

We tried the sweet potato soup, which was excellent. Rich and creamy, and with spices that gave it a nice punch and unique twist. Mahi-mahi was substituted for the grouper, but was perfectly done and the chili sauces with the pineapple salsa had plenty of tang and flavor, while not hiding the taste of a good filet of fish. We tried one of Bobby's burgers as the second dish which done medium rare had great flavor.

All was more than we expected and a super lunch at a very reasonable price. We may have had better luck being late in the linch hour, but everyone had great attitudes and the food was excellent. Good job Bobby!

Mesa Grill, Chef Bobby Flay's first restaurant, is located in the Flatiron District of NYC, ample of street parking available near the restaurant.Despite having a reservation was seated 1 hour late. The table we were seated at was right by the door to the kitchen (high traffic area) and servers kept nearly knocking into my chair.
Once seated the service was great and the server went out of his way to make up for the long wait. The Manager was apologetic and gave us complimentary appetizers, The food was excellent, small in quantity ,Definitely on the pricey side, The place is excellent and I would highly recommend for anyone visiting NYC. It truly is a dining experience , it is well worth every penny and you get a great food experience for your money.

Three of us waited for our meal over an hour after appetizer. When we were about to walk out, waitress in panic rushed to manager, we saw the Manager ran into kitchen. After a while, manager walked by us, but no update, no apology, NOTHING. Waitress came back to tell us that meal will be RUSHED out.
We did not enjoy at all. It was way past our dinner time, and we totally lost appetite. Food could have been ok since this is Bobby Flay's restaurant , but when prepared in rush, it is not worth the money.
I wish we were treated with some respect.
