Description: Pastis is a French bistro located in Manhattan's meatpacking district opened by Keith McNally. Executive Chef Pascal Le Seac'h prepares a menu that combines hearty Provencal dishes with moderately-priced bistro fare. The bar serves a range of house cocktails, wines by the glass, carafe or bottle, and several varieties of pastis, an anise-flavored aperitif from the south of France.

“Popular restaurant, surprisingly good breakfast”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

I didn't have high expectations as this is one of those places more known for it's 'scene' than food, but I was surprised at how good the breakfast was. We went relatively early without a reservation and got a table straight away. We ordered the Brioche French Toast which looked huge but it was so light and fluffy and not too sweet. Service was efficient and a bit robotic.

“you won't find the fine flavour of France there”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

The interior reminds a bit of the typical French bistro, there is not too much room between small wooden tables, quite crowded, there is an open air terrace.
The service is according standards - quite quick, the waiters approach the table at the fixed intervals. All in all, everything is OK but the food, it rather reminds the fast food than really european french cuisine and serving.
And inevitable Ketchup Hienz comes together with almost everything.
In my opinion, overpriced for that kind of restaurant and food, e.g. $160 for a supper for two people ( 2 glasses of Pino Grigio, two salads with shrimps, one steak ( was served well done instead of middle done, and it was tough, one fish of the day)
If you are looking for a charming romantic place with the food that would favour your palate at dinner time, I wouldn't recommend that restaurant

“Nice breakfast, but definitely not worth $150”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Yes, $150 for breakfast for four (without alcohol). The food was good, but honesty not that good.

You will need reservations.

“Would go back again”
Reviewed August 20, 2013 via mobile

Been to many places in NY. The service was real good, the outside seating/people-watching was superb and the food was excellent. Absolutely no criticisms, would certainly go back.
