“Great brunch - a touch of Paris in NYC”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

We went for brunch on Sunday and despite it being very busy, the staff still was very attentive and provided great service. The atmosphere (at brunch at least) is similar to a jacked packed noisy brasserie/bistro in Paris - so if you are looking for for something intimate and quiet I really would not recommend this for that kind of setting.

We ordered SCRAMBLED EGGS IN PUFF PASTRy, BRIOCHE FRENCH TOAST & EGGS BENEDICT along with an order of oysters. Although I know this is "brunch" I really wish I had a side of bacon but regardless I really enjoyed my scrambled eggs in puff pastry.

This is one of the many restaurants in the Keith McNally restaurant group and I would definitely like to go back and almost try his other establishments.

“A touch of France in the Big Apple!”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

It's as close as you can get to France without crossing the pond. Love the ambiance and food, although service was L O U S Y !!!
Unbelievable that a restaurant with such a high profile can permit such bad service. Then again.... the US restaurant industry has never stood out in restaurant service.

“Excellent as always”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

I am sure there are many positive reviews for Balthazar. A wonders American take on a French brasserie. Service super efficient, friendly and professional. Food delicious. My family had enough fries on their plates to feed a whole high school class. Duck shepherds pie excellent and mussels delicious. Must book.

“Still one of the best”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

Even though Balthazar has been well known for a long time, they have not let their quality slip. Service is friendly and outstanding, ambiance is fun, relaxed, elegant -- and the food and wine are superb. The noise level can be energetic when it's full.

“Our first visit.”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

This was our first visit and we had a very good experience. Our meals (Salade Lyonnaise with a perfect poached egg, Chicken Liver Mousse, Lobster Bisque, and Salad Nicoise with Seared Tuna), were a good value for the money spent. The staff was attentive and helpful without being your new best friend. We would definitely go back again.
