Been here a couple of times. The good:Menu and service. The bad:Too much noisyWe always go back there for lunch or brunch as it's as reliable a venue you can come across. Always good food and fun atmosphere

Been here a couple of times. Honestly I feel its a bit overrated especially on the food (maybe because of its prices too) but I do like the feel of the french brasserie.

2nd time in NYC and 2nd time at Balthazar. In the intervening years very little has changed and it was still an absolute delight. The eggs were soft and flavoursome. The croissants were flaky and the hot chocolate creamy! I've knocked a star off because of the prices. In all fairness nearly all restaurants are expensive in New York now, but I just think $19 for Eggs Benedict is a bit steep.

We took our daughter and grandchildren for lunch the day before Christmas. The restaurant was full and had a cheerfully noisy atmosphere. The decor was a good reproduction of a French brasserie.
The food was good quality and tasty. Prices were fairly high but not outrageous. Service was good considering how busy they were.I do not think I would like it in the evening as it is not a place to spend a relaxing time and I am sure the table turnover is high. However worth a visit.
