We were on a week-vacation in New York during the heat wave. Food was amazing, staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the prices are so reasonnable!

“Single mom w kids”
Reviewed May 5, 2013 via mobile

I have been enjoying this affordable consistantly delicious resteraunt for over 12 years and even with my stroller they happily welcomed us so I continue to return. Not sure if the kids will love it? Try the cheese poori, banana pakora and chicken korma not spicy but flavorful and kids friendly choices. Bring crayons let them go nuts on the paper covered tables.

“Nice ambiance, disappointing food”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

Had heard very good things about Ghandi Cafe and was excited to try it out. I tend to order the same 2 - 3 dishes every time I dine at an Indian restaurant, and was excited to try my go-to favorites here. Service was friendly and attentive, however the food was unfortunately disappointing. My vegetable curry dish tasted watered down, the spice wasn't quite right, and overall the dish was rather bland. The other dishes ordered were equally average. I may return to Ghandi Cafe again, however there are so many great Indian restaurants in the city there's no need to settle for just ok.

“Oh How the Great have fallen .....”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

We have been dining here at least ten times over the last two years and its sad to say that the food has become basically tasteless and not truly Indian anymore. Our first disappoint was with the tamarind condiment which now has vinegar added to it and is sweet as it used to be. We confirmed this with our waiter and he confirmed that the majority of folks thought it was too sweet so vinegar was added. Palak Paneer was the next victim. It had very little paneer and the spinach was straight out of a Birdseye bag. The sauce itself was tasteless and i could not detect any indian spice at all. The tandori dish was so overspiced (but strangely not hot) that you couldn't really taste anything else. Lastly the samosa was totally tasteless... In all fairness though, the raita and the Chana Poori were very good but tthat not enough to bring us back again. its back to Tiffin Walla, Madras, and Chennai Garden for us .......

“Good find”
Reviewed March 17, 2013 via mobile

Stopped here after an afternoon of wandering. My husband and I are not very familiar with Indian food, but the owner was more than happy to help us. We each had the special which included appetizer, bread, choice of entree, dessert, and tea for a reasonable price. Everything came to us hot and fresh, and we really enjoyed the food. We would definitely eat here again.
