Description: A fine dining restaurant in NYC, Periyali showcases elegant Greek cuisine and authentic specialities. Exotic cocktails, Greek wine and Greek spirits feature on the tempting drinks list. Renowned as one of the most famous Greek restaurants in Manhattan, Periyali redefines Greek cuisine with signature dishes like pan fried calf's liver, red wine marinated octopus or stewed rabbit.

It's always best to go as a group of four or six and share appetizers. Start with giant beans and a variety of Greek dishes. I always have the kebobs or lamb chops both of which I prefer rare. The restaurant is wonderful. Staff is terrific and it's, somehow, always the same. We love it and have been clients for as long as I can remember.......20+ years??? We think it's the best Greek restaurant in Manhattan.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Excellent Greek food and as I stated, the best baby octopus on the planet. The service is very good and friendly. A nice bar with a very friendly bartender. The lamb chops are delicious. Fried sardines with hummus to dip into. Just delicious. All of the meat was prepared perfectly. Will keep going back.

We went with people who eat at this restaurant frequently. The food and service was outstanding! We had a variety of appetizers but if you are only going to order one, get the grilled calamari. Perfection! As entrées, we ordered fish and lamb chops. They were delicious as well. Our server prepared a selection of desserts for the table so we could have a taste of everything. This restaurant was full but didn't feel too crowded or noisy. We will go back the next time we are in NYC.

As a rule, I'm not a huge fan of Greek food. I don't eat lamb or feta cheese, so I've avoided Greek dishes. That changed tonight at Periyali in New York's Flatiron District. Meeting an old friend for dinner - he chose the restaurant - at this small, long-time (by New York standards) haunt resulted in a fabulous dinner. Instead of ordering entrees, we ordered four appetizers - roasted beets/garlic dip; calamari/garlic dip; caviar/veggies/shrimp; and the house speciality, octopus - a must-have if you visit. Be sure to pair the meal with a good wine. Periyali has a good wine list, including some interesting Greek wines. Service was wonderful - just enough attention to be good without hovering. Acoustics make it a good place for conversation, despite the close quarters. If you're interested in Greek food in the city, go to Periyali. You won't be disappointed.

The food and wine are just fantastic. Try the grilled calamari appetizer; it is arguably the best in all 5 boros of NYC -. Staff is friendly, professional and very knowledgably. Décor is simple and attractive. The entire family loves this place.
