“BYOB heaven!”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

One of the places that I found about on Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop newsletter was a little French Bistro that was around the corner from our hotel called Tartine.

The best part about this little gem is that it’s BYOB, so we rocked up with 2 bottles of wine on a warm and rainy New York afternoon prepared for a boozy lunch of note! We started with their onion soup, now I love soup, but this is probably the BEST soup I have ever tasted – wow! Do not go there and not order this, you will miss out!

Some things to note about this place though, they only take cash and it’s very small so you are basically on top of the people next to you, unless you are sitting outside. Also you are not allowed to smoke outside at the tables, which is very nice.

The service was fine although not very friendly and they don't want you wasting time just hanging out, you need to be eating or drinking or leave!

The rest of the food we had there was very good too and the atmosphere especially toward the night time is very vibey.

“Small but great”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

Every year for the past four years, a group of friends get together here for a little celebration. We each bring a bottle of wine for the occassion. Knowing the size of the establishment, we arrived early and were able to configure our tables as needed as no one else was there yet. The staff was very accommodating. Over the course of the next three hours or so, the waitstaff attended to us, removing bottles, bringing water, and serving our meals. The food was excellent. While one would tihnk that a small BYOB in the West Village could be romatic, the tables are too close for that. But, if you want to enjoy time with friends over some wine and good food, this is definitely a good choice.

“Crowded + terrible service = disaster”
Reviewed October 28, 2012 via mobile

I've tried a romantic brunch with my girfriend but it is too crowded for anything romantic. The waitress asked us to change tables in order to acommodate a large group in our table. We ended in a bad spot and the waitress refused to change us for another one, offering it to new clients. Also, it can be noisy because it is small. People told me that the food is great, but we felt so disrespected that we left before the food arrive.

“Tartine, great casual dinner”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

At the end of a lazy Sunday, Tartine on junction of West 4th Street/11th Street this is a good value supper. Small (tight) no reservations, cash only & bring your own!

Not fine dinning but a decent 3 course tasty meal at under $60 ( excluding wine & service) is fantastic value, especially having just paid $60 for a couple of glasses of indifferent wine at Terrior on the highline.

Tables are small and its an eclectic mix of diners, but if you are looking for a good casual supper, it's more than OK.

I love this place to go for brunch. The food is delicious, the ambiance is great, and the price is super fair. They don't accept credit cards, at least they didn't used to. I was once poorly treated by one of the waitress, but the owner was soo polite that I couldn't care less. I would definitely go back, this place is lovely. Oh and get here early or get ready to wait for a long time to be seated. Make sure you try the apple pancake!!!
