“Kitted out rooms, all the right touches”
Reviewed August 3, 2014

Loved the Beats stereo, comfy bed, luxury bathroom and lots of small touches. Would definitely stay here again and in a very handy location for business. The roof top bar all felt a bit full on, they should make more room for actual hotel guests and the restaurant down stairs lacks soul, but the room more than makes up for it. They were re-doing the gym so look into this before you book.
If you prefer a more artistic view of the City I would stay over in Greenwich Village but its only 10 - 20 mins to get there from here. Supermarket next door is very handy.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a view, not sure if they have them?

I really looked forward to staying at this hotel and after seeing the photos online thought it looked wonderful. The reality was somewhat different. I got exactly the room I was hoping for and I must say that for such a small room it was extremely well designed. But it was SMALL. It felt a bit confining and much like a ship's cabin. The decor is what left me cold. It is what I'd call semi-industrial and very trendy, but almost to the spooky end of things. I doubt it will age well and looks a bit outdated already for a year old hotel. It feels like the designer was aiming for a 'restoration hardware' type environment, quasi Blade Runner.
The corridors was somewhat dreary and almost dorm like is feel and appearance.
Otherwise the staff was great, efficient, and seemingly caring to do what's best. The roof top terrace is incredible and worth every bit of a stay or visit to this hotel. What a view!
I'd say that this hotel is all about location, location, location. It is convenient and central to everything but in its attempt to wow with trendy design, it came off flat, cold and uninspired.

Room Tip: Definitely get a room facing W.57th St. and as high a floor as you can, otherwise I'd bet you...

Last minute decision to travel to New York for Man City v Liverpool soccer match. After having stayed in Abu Dhabi Viceroy chose to stay in another of the group hotels - not disappointed. Check in was swift and efficient, concierge service and the door staff were not only friendly, but very helpful and when not too busy great to talk to for quick but not rushed information and advice. On one night of our stay, not a fault of the hotels we were disturbed at 3am by noisy guests, we informed the night staff by telephone and in less the 2 minutes security had the problem sorted. The upside to this disturbance was that upon our return to our room later that day a large basket of fruit and a bottle of wine along with a note of apology were awaiting us - a nice and well appreciated gesture.
If we visit New York again would have no hesitation in staying here again.
Both the roof top bar and the Kingside restaurant did get busy - but despite this both are well worth visiting.

I have been to 4 hotels this week in 4 US cities and this was the biggest let down.

The room was well equipped and despite being small, met all my needs. A little gimmicky with the touch screen room controller that didn't work but the bluetooth speaker a nice added touch. Internet also free.

The room was very noisy and i suspect they all are. Slamming doors, paper thin walls and staff just being noisy and slamming doors early and just totally inconsiderate.

The gym is okay and i never found the pool...apparently being refurbished and tiny.

The restaurant (i have also reviewed) is next door. Lovely decor but complete rip off, always empty and food looked very average. My $6 cappu was bad.

The roof top bar is very cool and if you stay here you have access without having to line up...though this is where the real problem with this place lies....

The elevators are super slow and everytime i came back at night i had to deal with rowdy, pretentious people sneaking in to use the hotel elevator to get to the roof rather than the public one.

The security guy who told me he was a general manager is a real piece of work and walks around as though he is something so special, with his eye piece. He was quite happy to keep me stuck in the elevator whilst he pretended to be James Bond!

The attitude of this place is a guest should be grateful to at this hotel

Think Rodeo Drive - You are judged on how you are dressed and how much bling you have...sad sad sad!

This place stinks of attitude and when a c list celeb walked in, the staff began all drooling....sums up, what was very very average

So many better places to stay in NYC

Stayed here for one night on a business trip earlier this week. Location was excellent for midtown. Hotel welcome was warm and efficient (nice comp upgrade to a better class of room didn't hurt!) Staff was helpful and room itself was clean and well laid out. I had a room on a higher floor with a view of Central Park. Know that Central Park is still a few blocks away so it's not quite like overlooking it. That being said, the room (actually a small suite) was well lit with two large windows facing 57th Street. The internet speed was superb; the bathroom was ample in size with high quality towels and bath products. The roof top bar was an excellent place for a drink (or two). The next morning, the continental breakfast arrived in less than 25 minutes and was simple but good. All in all, it made a strong first impression. Concierge had an excellent car service booked for my trip to JFK. More of a "downtown hotel" feel, but in a midtown location and without a lot of attitude than can come from south of 23rd Street in NYC hotels.

Room Tip: Opt to be on the 57th Street side for more light and a view of Central Park.

We had the best experience at The Viceroy! The staff was amazing, so much friendlier and more attentive than other hotels where we have stayed. They really know customer service. Our room was great, a very nice size for New York, I can't believe anyone would review the rooms as small. We were in a basic king room and had plenty of space for our 3 suitcases. The room was cleaned, our clothes were folded and (amazing Neil George) bath products and free bottled water restocked everyday. The espresso machine was fantastic, this is an especially nice touch when you're in the city and exhausted! We went to The Roof for drinks one night and it was fine but I think going for happy hour would be better so you can see the Central Park view before it's too dark. We were celebrating my husbands 30th birthday and the hotel sent a bottle of wine and a delicious chocolate tart from Kingside and it was such an amazing touch that made us feel so special and valued as guests. We will defiantly be back.
