“Great show!”
Reviewed March 20, 2014

I bought these tickets as a gift to my Mom for Christmas and all I can say is WOW! I wasnt sure what to expect, but this play does a great job of of recreating Barry Gordy's story. The music was great and the performers were absolutely amazing. Hands down to the young lad who played the young Michael Jackson...that kid was absolutely amazing. His voice and moves were very impressive and he is one talented kid with a bright future. We really enjoyed the music, story line and theater. We had such a great time and cant wait to see our next show!

Takes you back. great story line.Music wonderful ,performers were great, if you closed your eyes you would think they were the originals.Young Micheal Jackson was great.would recommend, a show not to be missed. The seats in the Mezzanine were great. A Little tip, book your seats direct at the theater, We booked through Hotel and were charged an extra $200 for 4 tickets so be warned.

“Very Good”

Love Motown & felt that it was a great story about Berry Gordy and his role in US cultural history. Strongly liked the show. The only "downside" is that Gordy's reach was so wide and involved so many people that they really have to blow through some of the music. Essentially you got a verse of key songs, not the whole songs. Sometimes a medley. But overall it was a great show.

I rank this just below Beautiful (Carole King) and Jersey Boys. About a toss up with Million Dollar Quartet (Sam Phillips & Sun Studios). In some respects this show was not as tight as MDQ because of the sheer number of acts Gordy signed and developed. That said, see this show.

“Awesome Music to put you in a great mood!”
Reviewed March 19, 2014

Just went into NYC for a 2pm showing of Motown the Musical. Fantastic!!! The theatre was completely filled, and I know why. Great reviews! I honestly knew nothing about the show when buying the tickets, other than being excited for some great music. I was pleasantly entertained by the story too, which was the story of the Motown label and how it came to be such a success with all of the talent. It is amazing to think how so much of our musical history is shaped from the musical presence of Diana Ross, the Jackson 5, the Lumineers, the Supremes, Marvin Gaye, and many more. You will be entertained and the show flies by!

If you like Motown, you will love this show. Excellent performers that even looked like the characters they were playing.
