Owner description: MOTOWN: THE MUSICAL is the real story of the one-of-a-kind sound that hit the airwaves in 1959 and changed our culture forever. This exhilarating show charts Motown Founder Berry Gordy's incredible journey from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music mogul who launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, and so many more.

This is the musical story of the beginning and growth of Motown with Berry Gordy and Diana Ross as the central characters. The over 50 crowd will love the songs, though some are very brief. The story is choppy but it's a musical produced for those who like the music, first.

I grew up with Motown the songs/ dancers/singers were the best it was a show you will not forget
It was my birthday(65 years old) we had front row seats row a in the center right behind the conductor of the band. The band was great I also was glad that they gave the funk brothers who played all the music on all the great songs that came out of Motown a mention in the show all in all I think it was very factional of how it all started and progressed through the years

Standing in the two-block line in the cold before entering the theatre via 2 ticket takers was not a happy start, but we were looking forward to hearing fabulous music.
Unfortunately, most of the songs are snippets interrupted by other songs or dialogue. The way this show is presented, the audience is cut off from truly relaxing into the rhythm of the outstanding songs.

We grew up with this music. Though we were cognizant of the story, the musical highlights the events and development of the Motown Sound and Barry Gordy;s life. This show was one of the most enjoyable I have seen. The audience was lively and reactive, making the performers do an even more outstanding job. Don't miss this show. You will enjoy it and not want it to end!
