My first thought as I squeezed into Briciola was Wow, this place is small! After finding a couple of empty stools along the wall of the tight wine bar area, we ordered some wine. The wine was delivered in about three seconds and was very good, in fact excellent, for the price.
After soaking up the lively atmosphere and talking with the bartender, my second thought was Wow, this place is fun! We then ordered a foccacia appetizer, and I then thought, Wow, the food is delicious! At that point we decided to stay for dinner and enjoyed every morsel of our steak tagliatelle, octopus, and burrata salad. A++ for our meal. During the whole time, the staff chatted it up with us (not at all obnoxiously):it felt like we were at home yakking it up with friends.
When the bill came, I thought two things: Wow, this place is reasonable!, and Wow, I'm coming back here next time we visit New York! In fact, it may be worth a trip east just to go to Briciola.
