My husband and I had dinner here during a weekend trip to New York. While the portions were on the smaller side, the food was well-seasoned and fresh. It's a busy place, but perfect for large groups, families and couples.

I'm not typically a lover of Greek food, but when my family wanted to go there on Friday night, I thought, "okay - I'll make the best of it." Actually, the food was terrific and we all enjoyed it very much. Every plate went back to the kitchen completely empty. And at the end of the meal, they bring complimentary dessert. I loved the custard dessert. The energy was great in the restaurant. Loved the "happy birthday" thing that they do. Also loved the music they were playing. The servers all worked together and did a great job.

Met some friends at Ethos on Friday night for dinner. The food is amazing. Very traditional Greek food. I would not attempt to arrive without a reservation. The restaurant was crowded and a bit on the noisy side, but definitely worth it.

The warmth and friendliness of the Greek Islands radiate through this uplifting and charming restaurant. Bright and cheerful and known for a great selection of fresh fish, you will feel like a member of the family after just a few visits. The lack of tourists emphasizes the excellence of this restaurant, you can't make it in NY with the locals if you don't run a great business -- and Ethos is as good as it gets.

After 3 weeks in Greece, we thought we'd go out for Greek food in Manhattan last night. Ethos Gallery 51 is always packed, so we considered this to be a good sign.

The service is very professional, almost to a fault. The food is good by New York standards, merely acceptable by Greek standards. If you factor in the prices charged (astronomical), you might as well buy a plane ticket and dine in Athens (or Mykonos, as this is where Ethos 51 pretends to come from).

The place is swinging, which goes to show New Yorkers will pay any price to dine at a popular place; for this is a popular place. Hats off to the management and their consultants who have created this hype for this kind of food at these prices.

Warm and professional service might have prompted me to be more generous in my review. However, as we were having dinner, we were asked if would not mind being moved to another table so they could join our table to the next (empty) table for two to seat a party of four. We said we would not mind, and off we were sent packing to another table. One would think our mellow attitude might have prompted the management to offer us something as insignificant as a symbolic complimentary glass of wine. Well, it did not. And so we are not happy campers. We come from the higher-end part of the neighborhood (we live on Beekman Place) and felt we had been as nice and as accommodating to the needs of the management as we possibly could. To have this act of kindness go unnoticed negated all positive impressions we may have had.

Pack a fat wallet and try for yourselves.
